Nancy C. Rothman
April 1, 1959 – May 7, 2019
Nancy Rothman passed away on May 7, 2019 at the age of 60. She was born in Englewood, New Jersey and spent most of her youth living in Closter, New Jersey. At an early age, she showed talent in dance and became active in school performances and clubs.
She attended SUNY Purchase, NYU Tisch, and Montclair State and received a Bachelor of Arts in Dance. She performed modern dance professionally in New York and New Jersey and founded Dance at John Harms, a non-profit modern dance school associated with the John Harms Performing Arts Center. She was also the founder and director of the Englewood Dance Theater, a program teaching modern dance in the Englewood Public Schools. She maintained her love of dance all her life, even after she stopped performing.
Nancy married Stuart in 1987 and became a full-time mom to Briana in 1992. She was a devoted mother and enjoyed using her creativity planning birthday parties, teaching movement classes, and creating a beautiful home environment. She taught Pilates and Nickolates as Briana got older. She loved music, gardening, nature, yoga, and kayaking at Split Rock Reservoir. She appreciated beauty in design. From nature, she was able to find beauty in the simplest of things. She enjoyed going to Rockport, Sanibel Island, and Lincoln Center, and shared these passions with her family. Nancy is survived by her daughter Briana, sister Melissa Goldstein, cousins Rick Goldstein, Carole Goldstein, Laurie Schanzer, and her many lifelong friends and loyal dog Woofys. Nancy will be so dearly missed by all who knew her.
