
He was predeceased by his mother and father Joseph Meir and Mina (Minnie Jacobs) Wasserman. Dr. Wasserman is survived by his beloved wife Carole (Raifman), two daughters, Lisa Wasserman Sivan and her husband Ezra Zuckerman Sivan and Karen Wasserman and her husband Michael Singer, his brother Kenneth Wasserman and seven grandchildren, Jack, Nina, Jesse, and Libby Sivan and Jason, Hailey and Eliza Wasserman Singer.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Wasserman lived in Staten Island many years before moving to Livingston, NJ. He attended Yeshiva of Flatbush elementary and high school, graduating in 1955 and was a graduate of Brooklyn College in 1959.
Dr. Wasserman was employed by the N Y C Public School System for 39 years, working his way up as a teacher, to principal and as supervisor. He was the longtime principal of the Brooklyn Occupational Training Center and Supervisor of Vision Services of the NYC Board of Education.
Dr. Wasserman was a Lt. Colonel in the US Army and the US Army Reserves. He was the past district deputy grandmaster of the Third Kings District and longtime treasurer of Amos Ft. Greene Grand Lodge #922 of the Freemasons, Brooklyn, NY, past president of Congregation B’nai Jeshurun of Staten Island, longtime board member of Yeshiva of Flatbush, and past president of the Association of Special Schools Principals and Assistant Principals. Dr. Wasserman was also active in leadership in CSA, AOJT, B’nai Brith, American Legion and the Jesters.
