

Oscar Lax, 94, died at home on Dec. 13, 2016. Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Mr. Lax moved to South Orange in 1937 where he lived until moving to West Orange in 2001. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII from 1942-1946, received a Bachelor degree from NY University in business, and worked for Essex Chair Co. in Union from 1948-1995. He was also a member of B’nai Brith, the Hebrew Free Loan Society, the Jewish Historical Society, Rutgers Hillel, Temple Beth Shalom, and the Sister Rose Thering Fund.
Mr. Lax is the beloved husband of Bryna Ringel Lax for 15 years and predeceased by his wife Carol Lax in 1998; loving father of Judith Green (the late Mark), Janet Toledamo (Udi), and Robert Lax (Beth); cherished grandfather of Rebecca, Alex, Hillary, Anna, Samantha, and Eric; devoted great grandfather of Felix and Adam.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Rd., Livingston, NJ.
