It is so fitting that Phyllis’ Final sacrament be made at Saint Lucy’s Church where her journey in life began. Saint Lucy’s Church is at the core of her family’s history. Phyllis made every sacrament here at Saint Lucy‘s she was even an angel at the Saint Gerard feast.
She was born to immigrant parents Andrea and Amelia Cantelmo. When they came from Italy they settled close to the church on seventh Avenue.
Devoted wife to the late by Louis Ferrara, her three children Joseph and his wife Diane, Louis, and Nina and her husband Chet; her five grandchildren and their spouses Jennifer and Cisco, Andrea and Joseph, Louis and Maryann, Jaclyn and David, and Michael and Jess; her eight great grandchildren Joseph, Ava, Victoria, Nicholas, Alexander, Christian, Stella and Amelia, and her two loyal dogs Spencer and Harley were all the center of her life.
She loved her family deeply and would do anything for them. She was beloved by her brothers and their wives Gus and Helen, Frank and Loretta, Fred and Carol, and John and Marie; and many devoted nieces, nephews, godchildren and great friends.
Special thanks to Michele,Eva and Michele for all the love and care and to Jean Perillo and Vitas Hospice for their care and support.
Her passion for traditions, to entertain and to cook gourmet meals were extremely important to her and also loved to have a good cocktail with the proper Glass with family and friends. She especially enjoyed her Sunday mornings having champagne.
She cherished her days living on the water at the Jersey Shore and loved all the flowers in the yard.
Her other passion was her family business, the iconic Ferrara's Bakery on Bloomfield Avenue in Newark.
She was always proud of her delicious desserts and products and loved her many years there.
She also was a woman way ahead of her time as she gave the best advice. Her words were filled with wisdom grace and compassion. She impacted the lives of so many people. If that could be measured she would be immortal.
She was a faith filled woman and now as her new journey in heaven begins, although she is not here with us physically, she will continue to live on forever in all of our hearts.
She is now our shining star!
Rest In Peace
