Rhoda was loved dearly by all who knew her and will always be remembered for her strength, her sense of humor, her compassion, and artistry.
Rhoda was born on June 21, 1921, in New York City, the daughter of Samuel and Eva Glucklisch. She grew up in Newark, NJ, and graduated from Weequahic High School. She worked as a color artist at the Lorstan photography studios.
Rhoda was an accomplished painter and sculptor whose work was exhibited in galleries and studios in New York and New Jersey.
She married Bernard Rayfield of the Bronx, New York, on November 8, 1947. They were longtime residents of Livingston, NJ, and founding members of Temple Beth Shalom. Bernard Rayfield died in 1991.
Rhoda is survived by her sister, Hilda Swadlow, of Florida, her children, Gordon, Gina and Arlyn Rayfield, her daughter-in-law Jean Rayfield, her sons-in-law Craig Borax and Marty Schayowitz, her grandchildren, Michael and Jillian Rayfield, Sasha and Blair Borax, Myles Beck and his son Logyn, Breena and Mariah Beck, Adam and Alexis Schayowitz and their children Landyn and Peyton, Noah and Rachel Schayowitz and their children Charlie and Max.
A graveside service for Rhoda will be held Sunday, October 23, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ 07675.
