Richard Gary Gruskin, a cherished member of the East Hanover community, passed away on February 18, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on April 13, 1939, Richard was raised in Newark and later lived in Bloomfield, West Orange, and Livingston before settling in East Hanover 35 years ago. He was a proud alumnus of Seton Hall University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree.
Richard dedicated his career to his own accounting business, where he worked as a sole practitioner for many years serving municipal housing authorities throughout the state of NJ. He was passionate about his work and held a deep appreciation for his clients.
Richard was the beloved husband of Ronna Gruskin for 36 years, whom he met on their first date on Jan. 5, 1983. He was a loving father to Edward Israel Gruskin and Esther Higgins, and he was predeceased by his son, Alexander Gruskin in 2015.
Deeply involved with the JCC Metrowest Littman Family Memory Center, Richard was also an avid animal lover. He cherished the companionship of many dogs and cats throughout his life, especially his beloved dog Shaina. He was a huge Giants fan.
A graveside service will be held at Cedar Park Cemetery, located at 735 Forest Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652, on February 20, 2026, at 11:00 am.
