Robert I. Siegel

Mr. Siegel, a graduate of the Newark Public Schools, attended Upsala College and received his Masters from Columbia University in Special Education as well as a 6th year certification in the supervision of reading instruction from NYU.

He began his career as an educator in the Crisfield, MD public schools, and later entered the Newark Public Schools as an Instructor in Special Education. As a reading specialist, he completed his career in the Bernards Twp. Public Schools, retiring from that system in 1990. Mr. Siegel also taught in the Irvington Adult School where he worked both with adults in strengthening English language skills, and with students wishing to obtain their high school equivalency certification.

Shortly after his marriage to Burnice S., he moved to the town of Roselle NJ. He became president of Congregation Emmanuel of Roselle, and was an active member of the Roselle-Linden Interfaith Council. Mr. Siegel was also Program chairman, secretary, and later president of the Linden Lodge of B'Nai Brith for many years. He was, in addition, a life member of the NJEA and the NEA.

As an instrumental violinist, Mr. Siegel was active in a number of community orchestras - including the community orchestra in Summit, NJ and the Inter-generational Orchestra in Cranford, NJ He received, after retirement, his license as a "General" by the American Amateur Radio Relay League. His Call Letters were "KB2PEC".

Mr. Siegel leaves his wife Burnice, 3 children, Devora Schiff, Pamela Gentilcore, and Jordan Siegel. He has 8 grandchildren, Ezra, Samuel, & Joseph Schiff; Elisha, Yonatan, and Hillel Gentilcore; David and Benjamin Siegel; brothers Allen and Gilbert Siegel.

He wanted it known that his pride for his children and grandchildren knows no bounds and that his children in-law David Schiff, Emmanuel Gentilcore, and Devra Lee Siegel have made his life complete.
