Longtime Maplewood Resident
Roslyn Winston, a longtime resident of Maplewood, N.J. passed away on Tuesday, February 10 at St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston, N.J.
She was born in New York City, the daughter of Mary and Harry Friedman, and enjoyed 65 years of marriage to her husband, David Wallace Winston, who died in 2003.
Roslyn was an excellent golfer, who won the women’s championship of Greenbrook Country Club, where she was a member for many years. She was also a “crack” mahjongg and canasta player, who immensely enjoyed the camaraderie of her friends during afternoons at the card table.
Her greatest wish was to remain in her own home during her later years, which she did – for almost seven decades.
Roslyn is survived by her two daughters, Lois Winston and Arleen Goldman (Marvin) and her two devoted grandchildren, Brett Goldman and Alison Goldman (Michael Kemper). She was predeceased by a sister, Helene Todd, and brother, Dr. Lester Friedman.
Graveside services will be held at the Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, New York on Friday, February 13 at 11:00 am.
A celebration of Roslyn’s life will be held immediately afterward at the home of Lois Winston, 404 East 55th St., New York, N.Y.
