Sara is survived by her husband of 57 years, Saul Mercer, her children Eric Mercer (Marcy) and Daniel Mercer (Lauren), her brother Stephen Wilk (Irma) and her grandchildren Joshua, Samantha, Alex, Isabelle and Benjamin.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Sara lived in E. Brunswick for many years before moving to West Orange six years ago. She graduated from Erasmus Hall High School, attended the University of Vermont and received a B. A. from Brooklyn College. She was a history teacher before starting her own business, Window & Bed Coverings by The Linen Show. She was a longtime member of the E. Brunswick Jewish Center.
