

With great love and sorrow, we share the news of the passing of our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother SARAH DOPPELT, who died peacefully at home in Livingston last night at age 99, surrounded by devoted family.
Sarah was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband of 57 years, Jack Doppelt. She was the devoted mother of the late Jane Negrin (Eugene), and of Jeremy Doppelt (Leslie Shaw) and Harvey Doppelt (Cathy). She was the adoring and adored grandmother of Benjamin Negrin (Ilyse), Daniel Negrin (Erica), Kate Doppelt (Erick León), Alison Doppelt (John Plaisted), Elizabeth Doppelt, Michael Doppelt and Eric Doppelt; and great-grandmother of Jordyn, Mae, Ava, Juliette, Sam, Ellie and Lily. She was a most loving aunt and cousin, a loyal friend, a lifelong learner and consummate hostess, and an active supporter of Jewish causes. Her final years were greatly enriched by her special relationship with Sandy Chisholm, her deeply caring aide and companion.
A mainstay of many Jewish and civic organizations through the years, Sarah took particular pride in serving multiple terms as president of the Essex County Chapter of the Brandeis National Women’s Committee, as well as in leadership roles in Livingston Hadassah. Funeral services will be held at 1pm at The Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ 07039. The family will be receiving friends from 12:15pm to 12:45pm. The burial will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, 1098 Woodbridge Center Dr, Woodbridge Township, NJ 07095.
