Sandy was born in Newark, New Jersey to Hyman and Beatrice Baer. He was a student at Weequahic High School before attending Rutgers University undergrad, University of Pennsylvania dental school, and Boston University postgraduate in endodontics. He and his father became the first father-son endodontic team in New Jersey, where he practiced for almost 40 years.
A talented craftsman, Sandy's creations included elaborate model train sets and beautiful wooden boxes. He was an avid skier and golfer, lover of cars, and curator of dynamic flower gardens in his backyard.
Respected by his patients and loved by his family and friends, Sandy is survived by his daughters Ashley and Alana, grandchildren Elias and Mabel, brother Ron, and sister Carol. He was a loving husband to wife Joan, who after 44 years of marriage predeceased him on the same day one year prior.
After a private service, shiva will be held Sunday and Monday from 3 PM to 7 PM.
