Tillie Zimmerman

Tillie Zimmerman, 103, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, in Aventura, Fla. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Rd., Livingston, N.J. Interment will follow at King Solomon Cemetery, Clifton, N.J.

Born in Newark, N.J., in 1913, to Becky and Jacob Kaplan, Tillie married her beloved Moe Zimmerman in 1937, and traveled the world with him, with trips that included an audience with Pope John XXIII and meeting Nikita Khrushchev. She lived in South Orange, N.J., for 25 years, and moved to North Miami Beach, Fla., in 1977. She was also involved in many philanthropic activities, including City of Hope, the Junior Auxiliary of the Miami Jewish Home for the Aged at Douglas Gardens, B'nai B'rith of Sunny Isles, Hadassah, and the Queen Esther Chapter of Ort in Miami Beach. Tillie is survived by her daughters, Rona Lubetkin (Charles) and Sherry Weintraub (Stephen), five grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made in Tillie's name to the American Cancer Society .
