Vladimir Shtulberg

Born in Kyiv, Ukraine, on April 29, 1941, Vladimir’s early years were marked by the hardships of World War II, when his family was evacuated to Siberia before returning to Kyiv after the war. He went on to build a distinguished career as a civil engineer, contributing to various infrastructure projects throughout Ukraine and former Soviet Union. In 1994, he and his beloved wife, Elza, immigrated to the United States to join their son, Yan, and begin a new chapter surrounded by family.

Family was the center of Vladimir’s life. A devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, he always put the needs of those he loved before his own. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elza; his son, Yan, and daughter-in-law, Kira; his granddaughter, Leah, and her husband, Gene; his cherished great-granddaughter, Ava Faye; and his older brother, Musiy Shtulberg.

Vladimir had a gift for making people feel welcome. His warmth, genuine interest in others, outgoing personality, and wonderful sense of humor meant there was hardly anyone who didn’t enjoy his company. He loved lively conversations—especially while watching international soccer with his brother Musiy and Kira’s father Alik. He proudly called himself “the father of the fisherman,” a title that always brought a smile.

Even in his final weeks, Vladimir never complained or wanted to burden anyone. His favorite words, “Мы прорвемся” (“We’ll get through this”), reflected the optimism and resilience that defined his life.

His family will remember him for his unwavering strength, generous heart, and unconditional love. They are deeply grateful for the kindness, support, and compassion shown by family and friends during this difficult time. Vladimir’s legacy lives on in the lives he built, the family he cherished, and the countless people who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

A Funeral Service will be held at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ 07039 on Monday, July 13, 2026 at 11am. The family will be receiving guests from 10:15am to 10:45am. The burial will follow at B'nai Abraham Memorial Park, 2600 Route 22 East, Union, NJ 07083.
