Irene Mary Tochman, age 90, passed into eternal life on Monday, November 11, 2019. Irene was born in Detroit on March 15, 1929 to Walter and Mary Lacny and was the youngest of four girls. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, William, and her three children; Mark (Nancy), Lisa Hauser (Jack), and Lori Pierce (Kevin). Irene has six grandchildren; Sarah Tehranisa (Jason), Laura Hauser, Matthew Tochman, Jennifer Hauser, Amanda Pierce, and Kelly Pierce. She has one great grandchild; Abigail Rose Tehranisa.
In her late teens and early twenties, Irene sang in the radio choir for WJR AM 760 and was a fashion model for the J. L. Hudson department store on Woodward Avenue in Detroit. She married U.S. Navy and WWII veteran William J. Tochman on May 21, 1949 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Detroit. They moved to Livonia shortly after the birth of their first child to raise three children and lived in the same home until the fall of 2018.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-7:30pm, with a Rosary Service that will be at 7:00pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd, Livonia, MI 48152. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. (In state at 10:30 a.m.) on Friday, November 15 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Northville, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee or Angela Hospice in Livonia, Michigan.
