Randy Ditto

First and foremost, Randy is a Marine. He spent 4 years in the United States Marine Corps assigned to Marine Attack Squadron VMA-513 as a hydraulics specialist on the AV-8B Harrier II jet. While serving, he was awarded a Meritorious Mast and Good Conduct Medal. Randy was honorably discharged in 1976 as a Corporal. Randy was an active member of the Downriver Marine Corps League, Wyandotte, MI, and served as Senior Vice Commandant.

Randy was an avid golfer, not a good one, but certainly an avid one, something he enjoyed as often as possible. Randy and Diane made several trips over the years across the United States so he could play golf in the winter.

Randy was a dedicated Deer hunter, a past time that he shared with his granddaughter, Krystal Holbrook. Randy loved going up north, to Waters, MI, to "The Shack" for his fall hunting trips. Randy once went on a hunting expedition with his close friend Rick Sauers in Montana, an adventure he described fondly. For many years he applied for the Michigan Elk Permit Lottery, which he won, and successfully got an Elk.

Randy retired from Ford Motor Company, Michigan Truck Plant, after 35 years. Afterward, he spent time as a vehicle test driver for Roush Industries. He would say one of his most exciting adventures at Roush was driving a Ford truck through the Northwest Territories on the ice roads for extreme cold weather testing.

Randy is survived by his wife, Diane Ditto. Children: Elizabeth (Edward) Heath, Robert (Becka) Ditto, Rebecca Ditto (1982 - 2019), Darin (Tammy) Engle, DeAnn (Todd) Lesperance, and Denise (Brian) Bianco. Randy has 16 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. Randy has three siblings: Paul Ditto, Debra Hunt, and Kathryn Cross.

Randy was preceded in death by his father Jack Ditto and mother Ella Ditto.

Randy was a guy that would talk to anyone, give you his last dollar, or the shirt off his back. Randy never met a stranger; everyone was Randy's buddy. He would sit around a campfire, or a candle, for hours and tell stories about his life's adventures. Randy was a man who truly had a good and generous heart, many will miss his crooked smile and warm spirited company.
