Sharon was born the first of four children to Walter and Lenora Lotowicz in Detroit on March 18, 1947. She was a 1965 graduate of Chadsey High School. She met her future husband George through neighborhood friends. They were married on April 27, 1968 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Detroit. Together Sharon and George raised their three daughters in Redford Township. After her daughters were in school full-time, Sharon continued her education at the University of Michigan - Dearborn from which she received her Bachelor of Art degree majoring in Sociology. Sharon taught Kindergarten for a period of time and then worked as a Telebanking Administrator for DFCU Financial. She retired from DFCU after 24 years of service. Among her hobbies Sharon enjoyed weekends at the cottage, quilting, following U of M football and all the Detroit sports franchises. Sharon particularly loved spending time with her grandchildren and the family dog "Otis".
Sharon is survived by her husband of 51 years, George; daughters, Cheryl (Rob) Chanko, Heather (Jeff) DeSandre, and Amy Rakich; grandsons, Ryan Chanko and Jack DeSandre; granddaughter, Lauren Chanko; brothers, Michael (Candy) Lotowicz, Guy Lotowicz; and sister Hope Moran. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may visit on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 West Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. Visitation continues on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Glen Eden Cemetery in Livonia.
