I just came across this in passing. I was not aware Aaron had passed. I had the pleasure of knowing Aaron from grade school into middle school and high school.  When you know someone that long, you sort of get a good view of their character and he was just a good guy. He always made me chuckle. He was quick witted and intelligent and always ready to crack a quite joke just loud enough that it was sort of private, but made it even more funny.  He was an all around good dude.  Sad to see this. RIP Aaron.

I met Aaron through work, we were a customer of his. The relationship we had transcended that of our daily jobs. He made an impact on my life and I’ll always remember him fondly.

I first heard about Aaron when I came to work for FishNet Security in April of 2012.  Everyone warned me he would be a tough customer to ever want to use the Executive Briefing Center Program  that I managed.  After all, why did he need me or the EBC to help close business?  He was already one of the very best.  However, I didn't give up and he finally agreed to bring one of his top customers in.  Throughout the planning process he realized I cared as much as he did about providing a great customer experience and he decided to trust me.  Over the 7+ years I worked with Aaron he brought multiple customers in for an EBC.  Of course, he always had feedback for me about something I needed to improve upon and he was always spot-on.  He was A Class Act and I loved working with him!  

One memory in particular that I will never forget was the "squeaky door" in the EBC Boardroom.  The look I got from Aaron across the boardroom table had me jumping!  You better believe at the next break, we had WD-40 to fix that damn squeak!  We always had fresh brewed coffee in carafes when Aaron came to town.  The Keurig machines were too loud and distracting. He had a keen awareness and only wanted the very best for his customers.  Aaron was a joy to work with...always prepared and he knew his customers well.  He made my job easy and he selflessly made me look good.  

Less than a year ago, I was fortunate enough to catch up with Aaron.  We chatted for over an hour about life, his beautiful family, how much we missed working together and our mutual passion to serve our customers.  

My deepest condolences and prayers go out to the entire family.  My life is Forever Blessed that I knew Aaron and that I too could call him my friend.  May he rest eternally in peace.

I met Aaron a little over 10 years ago at FishNet / Optiv Security. While his success in business spoke volumes, it was his passion for his family that was most inspiring. From an upcoming trip, to just a day at the club, I could feel Aaron's happiness when he talked about those things and it was clear that's where he was most fulfilled. 

A loyal and true friend - Aaron was always there for me with sound advice, a light-hearted chat, or just a phone call saying "Just checking in on you, Carruthers!". I've never in my life known anyone else that could be both so hilarious and so thought-provoking at the same time! I learned a lot from Aaron and am really going to miss our conversations. 

A truly legendary man and a legacy of class, professionalism, and love. I'll miss you buddy!

Aaron was one of the sharpest sales pros I have come across in my 22+ year IT Security Sales career. Highest character and  integrity. Your family should be proud. 

I was always impressed with how he could balance incredible work success, and always be present for his family at the same time. I never met Nicole or his kids, but I felt like I knew them after hearing Aaron always talk so fondly of them. 

Aaron left a huge impact in his 41 years, and will be missed by so many who were fortunate to have met him. Prayers to Nicole and his entire family going forward. 

Aaron and I worked together at FishNet Security.  I always held Aaron in high regard and with healthy cynicism from afar until my brother Sam began working with Aaron in the field.  Through my brother, I began to understand and unravel the man behind the measured yet memorable myth. 

Simple things like dropping my brother off an hour out of his way at our summer vacation in MI and making sure Sam got access to clients at top shelf events all expressed who Aaron was - a man for others.   

Finally spending time with Aaron at SKO’s, PClubs, RSA and on committees I could see for myself what a talented, pragmatic, authentic man of the world he was.  Wise, concise and brilliantly funny, Aaron was never more than just a phone call away. 

Aaron was indispensable as a friend - you could always pick up with no matter where you left off.  He was keenly aware of the world and how it was changing.  He was confident in the space he was occupying and how he was spending his time - always investing in those he loved.

I will always remember thanking him for the honor of naming his second born after me, of the Meadowbrook twitter handle returning to its rightful owner, getting ripped off on wine lists, bemoaning the latest sales management fad, talking travel and global perspectives, getting deep on healthy marriages and what skills our children needed to thrive.  

My favorite memory was in San Francisco for RSA and he, alongside of Maley and Smith, secured front row spots for an intimate Snoop Dog concert a vendor was sponsoring.  Knowing I was a huge hip hop fan and without hesitation, Aaron invited me up to enjoy the show with the boys stageside and the rest was history…  

Aaron was the Gold Standard in so many ways.  

The reverberations of his legacy are far reaching, but none more significant than his family.  He loved you deeply and it showed.

I was proud to know your husband and father and call him a friend.  

He was truly one of a kind.


Aaron had a calming demeanor. He was honest, kind, bright and caring... a true professional. He was a man of character. But, what I remember most was his fierce love for his kids. The last time we had lunch he told me he was living a blessed life.. I was very proud.

I had the privilege of working side by side with Aaron for the better part of 2.5 years and he quickly became so much more than a colleague. He was a mentor and a friend.  Even after our work lives separated we’d connect regularly. Aaron had a profound impact on my life and I will forever cherish the time I was able to spend with him. I miss him dearly. AP was the definition of a true partner. I first met Aaron when he was at FishNet Security. He would always give me a hard time about living the “high life” raising our kids in Rochester. I found out 5 years after we had known each at a dinner in CA he grew up in Rochester. The look on his face - with raised eye brows and a smirk - was priceless. I would often call him on Friday afternoons to catch up. I loved to talk to him, and what would start out as a 5 minute call about a specific opportunity led to a 60 minute call where we talked about Nicole, Keira, Max and Emily. Plus the meaning of life. He always made time for people. 

They say men live for 3 things in life: A Beauty to Rescue, A Battle to Fight, and Adventure to Live. When Aaron met you, Nicole, he found the love of his life. Aaron was someone all of us wanted to go to battle with, either in business or in life. The family adventures he shared about taking in Europe inspired everyone.

I will miss you my friend. Our hearts break for the Prillwitz family, and you do not cry alone.

I first worked with Aaron when he began his career in sales at FishNet Security in the late 2000s.  I was looking for a partner for our technology and was impressed by Aaron's technical aptitude, positive attitude, and organizational skills. We began a very mutually beneficial business collaboraration for a number of years. We began working together again in the 2016 time frame and I was even more impressed by how he had grown into the consumate sales professional - and I agree with others "as the Gold Standard" in sales. Again we enjoyed mutual success working together.  What resonated with me the most during this time was Aaron's dedication to his family.  Even though he had tight deadlines and worked long work hours, Aaron's family always came first for his family and childrens' events.

My sympathy goes out to the Prillwitz family. We will greatly miss Aaron in the business and Northville community.

Aaron was our Optiv Account Manager, great guy to work with. Prayers of comfort and peace to the Prillwitz family. He will be missed. 

I am a manager at Meadowbrook Country Club and met Aaron about 8 years ago when he became a member.  From the first day we met, he treated me with kindness and respect.  As the years passed, I got to know A.P., and I considered him one of my personal friends.
I will always remember the way he treated the employees at MCC with dignity.  I also admired the way he lived his life to its fullest and the way he took so much pride in his wife and kids.

I had the great pleasure of working closely with Aaron over the last 2+ yrs while here at Palo Alto Networks and was very sad to hear of his passing.  He talked often about his family and you could sense how much he adored you all. He was someone I often held up as a shining example of how to partner in our business.  I think I saw a tribute mentioning him as the gold standard.  I couldn't agree more.  I truly enjoyed our conversations be they about business, travel, food or family.  Always with that great sense of humor on display.

On the first day of my first teaching job, I met Autumn Penney.  We had so much in common.  We had the same degree from MSU, the same job, and we both had little brothers.  As we became friends, I learned all about Aaron and Aric.  Aaron and I are similar in age and from Autumn’s stories, I thought he was going to be “too cool” for me to hang with.  When I first met Aaron, it was obvious that he was cool and he had that “knack” for making people feel at ease and included.   From that point on, I looked forward to times when I would have the opportunity to be around Aaron.  It was even better after he met Nicole.  It was awesome to watch him grow from an irreverent college grad to a successful family man.  My heart breaks for the entire family with thoughts of what could’ve been, but I am grateful for the time that we had with Aaron.  I am praying for peace, love, and hope for everyone with connections to Aaron, especially the Prillwitz and Tobin families.

I met Aaron, Nicole, & their 3 beautiful kids through my husband Mike. Mike and Aaron have known each other for many years through work, having many of the same friends, and of course their mutual love to play golf. As the years have passed, our families have gotten to know each other and even had the opportunity to vacation together. 

I recently read a quote that resonated with me... “You can’t give your life more time, so give the time you have left more life”

It seems like Aaron & Nicole always lived their lives in this exact way. I always admired their family for not waiting for the “perfect time”, or until their kids were “just a little older” to travel. They took such wonderful family trips, creating memorable experiences for their family. 

Even when Mike and I would go out to dinner with Aaron &Nicole it was never just a typical dinner. Aaron convinced us to do a 6 course vegan tasting menu at Mabel Gray. On another occasion the 4 of us had dinner in Detroit at a historic building & took a tour afterwards. Mike and I always said “YES” when they asked us to dinner, or when they welcomed us into their wonderful home. We enjoyed their company and they always created memorable experiences for Mike and I. Aaron always managed to create fun experiences in his life for not only himself, and for his family, but also for his friends. We should all take a page from his book!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being such a wonderful friend to Mike. The countless phone calls, lunches, rounds of golf, golf tournaments, and of course “Summer Classics”! The two of you always quickly managed to throw together an emergency round of golf when a 75 degree day would pop up in October. Mike will miss you tremendously.

Aaron "AP" was the gold standard for anyone in sales. I was fortunate enough to meet him during my tenure at Palo Alto Networks and I remember our first meeting well, he busted my chops about UM football and we both laughed.  I loved talking to him on the phone, desert dry wit and very funny. My last time with him was spent at Arcadia Bluffs playing golf which is perfect considering these great tributes. I never met his family but you didn't have to with AP, he simply adored all of them and spoke of them frequently. You don't meet many people in life that you will never forget, Aaron is one of them. My heartfelt condolences to his entire family, may he rest in peace.

Met Aaron in the early 2000’s he became our Fishnet account executive...seems like I’ve known him forever. A class act all the way, deeply cared for and loved his family, his friends. Always treated everyone he spoke to with deep respect. The picture I’ve added was on my birthday 2016, as you can see he made sure Erik (pictured) and I were hooked up as usual. What a great pleasure it has been to know AP, REST IN PEACE brother.

We have a lifetime of memories of Aaron.  He was such a cute happy little guy.  We remember coming to Rochester for a weekend when Aaron was about 5 and we were able to watch his soccer game.  When it was his turn out on the field he just sat down and picked Dandelions.  It was just adorable.   His mother couldn’t figure out why he was just sitting there.  I had to admit to her it wasn’t Aaron’s fault.  He went out with me in the morning on my 8 mile run following me on his little bike.  I was pretty fast back then and his little legs were just racing on his bike pedals, saying he could keep up.  

Aaron grew into such a role model for everyone.  He really loved Nicole and his children.  His family was such a pleasure to be around.  Nicole is a wonderful person and the kids are just precious. We will all miss Aaron.

20 years in 2000 characters.  I remember when we first met working at Flagstar Bank.  All the good times hanging out in our early 20’s.  I remember hearing about you meeting Nicole.  Laughing when Catherine said “we like you better with this girl Nicole”.  You, and we, would agree.  
I remember playing Torrey Pines when we both found ourselves in So Cal for work.  Every hole was uphill into the wind :-).  I laugh at the picture of your ball landing on that platform, still on the course from the tournament the weekend prior.  Well . . . you eventually laughed.
I remember us getting that foul ball at your bachelor party.  We looked at the pictures from both our weddings.  They provided some needed smiles.  2 great days!  We look so young!
The night your Tag ended up in the pipes at the Royal Oak house.  You were able to retrieve it, but we laughed SO hard that night.  Well . . . you eventually laughed.  All the Friday nights out in Royal Oak, before kids, the 4 of us hanging out and laughing.  
Too many good times to recount them all, but not nearly enough.
We could always just pick up.  Weeks, months, it didn’t matter.  10 minutes and we’re the same mid-20’s kids that thought they had things figured out.  Even now I can’t really explain it.  We just always related.  
I was often learning from you.   You’re the engineer that cracked the code to make a career in sales.  Something I aspired to do.  You lived so fearlessly.   I always really admired that about you.  I wish I would have made it a point to tell you so.  Whether it was traveling, renovating the house, playing a particular golf course, whatever you were determined to do, you DID it.  You just made it happen.  A sheer force of your will.  There were never any excuses from you, no reasons why not to, no waiting for tomorrows, you went out and LIVED.
I miss you already, but I will never forget you.  God bless you, Nicole and the kids. See you on the other side . . .  my friend . . . forever.

What a guy!

Aaron was many things, when I first met him 12+ years ago, I think we were on our company’s first club trip. We looked like we had nothing in common, however he reminded me of every good friend I ever had, neither of us knew how we got there, we just knew we worked hard and somehow earned this reward.  

Years later I sought his advice in going for a big promotion, ‘Yeah man, just do it!’, He said.  I laughed, he had that way of making it feel achievable given his approach to hard work.  He said so little and at the same time, if you knew him, that was a lot!

Aaron, you impacted my life and not sure if I ever thanked you before, thank you and I will continue to honor you through hard work and remembering that laugh you made when making fun of the cool kids!

Random memories of Aaron (AP):
-Interviewing him for his 1st job in internet security with Check Point in 2004. He was way smarter than me and got the job.  
-Mornings at his house in Royal Oak. Nichole and I sipping coffee, making fun of AP, waiting for him to get his act together so we could start our day as a sales team for Check Point.
-The countless trips up north for the Summer Classic and the joy in seeing him win the championship not once but twice. Then having him remind us over and over he won the championship not once but twice.
-The 1st time we played Meadowbrook shortly after he joined. The rain in the morning gave us the course all to ourselves in the afternoon. We also received the full attention of Shoeman and the never-ending on course beverage deliveries for which we all paid a price the next day. 
-The beautiful day we spent with AP & Nichole in Marco Island watching our kids play together  
-The smile on his face when he talked about his kids
-The way he studied a wine list
-The way he always new how far we were from the hole on a golf course. Once a caddy always a caddy. 
-How much he loved to travel with his family and the conversations we’d have when he’d returned. 
-Watching AP grow from a newbie college grad into a husband, father and one the smartest, most talented guys in the business.

I always enjoyed my conversations with Aaron on a personal and family level over the years... he was clearly an amazing husband and  father. It was great to see Aaron’s career ascension from a security engineer to a stellar enterprise account director that was loved by everyone he worked with especially his customers who trusted him implicitly. I first met Aaron (“JB”) as the kid that was part of the junior Check Point SE crew.  Starting with the first trip to Calgary, I knew he’d fit right in. I’ve had the pleasure of working with him ever since then in one way or another.   

Over the many years, much like many have already said - Aaron became more than a co-worker. He became a dear friend of mine. His love for his family and desire to make memorable moments for them was inspiring and caused me to to want to do the same. He was always pushing to make things better because he lived at a higher standard than the average guy. He expected excellence from himself and others around him.  

So many of my work memories include him so there will be constant reminders as we go on day by day.  One specific one was just last February at RSA. He wanted me to walk with him to a vegan deli he found and have breakfast. It was surprisingly tasty - he told me he would make me plant based some day. I took it all in and thought at that time how much in just appreciated him for being him. 

Aaron made it his job to know much about me and my family and cared deeply for us. He was a great example to me and I learned much daily from him. Aaron made me a better man. 

The world isn’t the same without him, but his legacy lives on.  He will be deeply missed.

I met Aaron years ago when we were all Fishnetters and then grew to be Optiv because of amazing professionals like Aaron.  Aaron was always happy and supportive and willing to share any expertise he had on great travel destinations and I specifically planned our last club (although it didn’t happen due to covid) because of Aaron’s recommendation after a family vacation to Grand Cayman.  He took the time to tell me what was good, what was bad, where to go, what to do, we spoke for over an hour about it. Aaron was so kind and gentle and just made me smile knowing I’d see him at SKO or Club.   I loved helping him plan events, some of the best were the Yacht “meetings” he held. 😊. I am so blessed to say that I knew him well and consider him my dear friend!  My heart breaks for Nicole and those sweet precious children that I know are his everything!!  I will be praying for you Nicole, Keira, Max and Emily ♥️  Your Dad is the best and his legacy is proof of the man he is!!!  Much love and prayers coming your way from me!!!!! I met Aaron (AP) around late 2004, he was at Check Point and I was working for a VAR prior to going to Fishnet.  Since I am 10 years older and not as cerebral as the man who became one of my best friends, I was not sure what to make of him.  Then, we started golfing and man what an experience that was.  I recall an early round with Kierk Sanderlin, Dave Parlangeli, AP, and I on a Friday afternoon.  These guys were hitting it all over the yard, I had to text my wife (probably on the palm pilot) and let her know I should be home by Saturday.  I enjoyed every minute of it!

This started what became an incredible journey for me and my ‘2-man partner’, Red Run, Great Oaks, and the always eventful Summer Classic.  We won some, we lost some, we drank some all the while developing a tremendous friendship.  Out of all of this I think I will miss our 20-minute phone calls most of all.

I watched Aaron go from SE, to sales guy and them to Sales Professional finally arriving as one of the best in the business. I met Nicole and watched them have a beautiful family and even was able to vacation with them a few times. This is where I learned AP’s best skill was as a husband and father.  Whether it was telling me he had to go to be home to make dinner, sitting by the shallow end at the pool all day keeping the kiddos above water or just asking about travel hockey he was passionate about it.  He made so many memories for his family and friends that even in the saddest of times I can find a smile.

My thoughts and prayers go to his family and friends.  I will miss you dearly AP.

I had the pleasure of working with Aaron every day, for 10+ years in a support role.  I don't consider him a co-worker, he is mentor, great friend, and all around good dude.  There's not a better person I could have learned more from professionally and personally.  I spent more time on the phone with Aaron in the last decade than I did my own family.  

Nicole - nothing I say can express my complete and utter devastation for you and your beautiful kids.  The world lost a great man and you lost a Husband and Father.  

Keira / Maxwell / Emily - I don't have to tell you how awesome your dad was.  He was always so proud of you all and loved to talk about swim meets, golfing, hockey, and anything to do with you 3.  We used to laugh when he'd say "Max called me bro, I'm not your bro I'm your dad" 

Aaron - you were always so good to me, I miss you every day and love you brother.

Aaron might not have known this but he played an integral part in my life.  About 8 years ago, he helped me make a huge decision in my career and it forever changed my professional trajectory. I'm so grateful for his friendship and his expertise. He was a wonderful example of someone who valued his family first and career second and I've always tried to replicate that. He will be missed and his family will remain in my prayers.

“AP” simply made work life more fun. No matter if it was a plane ride to The Valley, long whiteboard meetings, lunch and dinner meetings, or golfing at Arcadia.... It was always better when Aaron was there.

Aaron was an all around great guy. He welcomed me into the FishNet family from the very beginning and was always there to help me navigate the CyberSecurity waters and be a mentor.  

When his youngest daughter, Emily, was born, he always would tell me that he and Nicole spelled it the correct way.

I have been very blessed to know and work with Aaron. When I started my career in Cyber Security I supported Aaron and his clients in a support role and I was just learning the industry and processes.  Aaron was always so gracious and kind even as I made some mistakes and errors as a newbie. He coached me and later helped me to get further promotions. He cared for people and wanted to help them meet their goals. He always treated people with authentic  kindness no matter their position or status.  He was always asking about my family and kids and was truly genuine. I have learned so much from him professionally and I am happy to have known him. To the Prillwitz family you are in my families thoughts and prayers. 

Aaron and I started working together 12 years ago. I was the Indiana rep and he was the Michigan rep.  We had a healthy yet very serious competition each year to see who could out-sell the other.  I’d like to think we pushed each other to excel at the highest level.  As our friendship grew we realized that while we both sold similar amounts  we went about our daily work very differently. That spawned a decade of daily phone calls asking each other for advice and learning from one another.  I owe a lot of whom I’ve become at work and outside of work to Aaron.  His calm, methodical, measured way of thinking thru issues helped me tremendously.  His unique sense of humor and brilliant wit was often just what I needed.  Aaron just did things the right way and I’m going to miss him deeply every single day.  His priority was Nicole and his kids.  The outpouring of love from his Optiv family and the greater industry just shows the legacy that he leaves.  I’m going to miss you jabbing me for only selling maintenance renewals and and my favorite client (I purposely left their name out of your obituary because I know you are tired of hearing about them).  I have no idea how I’m gonna do it without you buddy but I promise you I’ll make you proud!    Brad

I remember when we hired Aaron around 2008 to replace Scott Zyrek, an ace sales guy in his own right. I thought, this new kid has his work cut out. When I met him it was easy to see how he became an ace. His affable nature, quick whit, and genuine drive to make his customers as secure and risk adverse as possible was a trifecta for success. Aaron was the cream of the crop at his profession. 

And he knew how to have fun too. He booked a high end suite at The Cosmopolitan in Vegas at a partner conference in 2015 and threw bash for his customers. Of course the vendors crashed it and it was one for the ages. We laughed about that ever since and I shudder to think what the bill was. He was one of 3 or 4 who could get away with it and still have a job the following week. That’s how good he was.

He was a true friend. When I became a vendor he always, and I mean every time, took my call even when we had no action going. He came and met me in Novi when I was around just to hang out for a while, even as the family was packing for a spring break vacation to FL. That’s how he was. He valued his friends and I’m blessed to have been one. I am utterly desolated and will miss Aaron greatly. God bless you my friend! Lou


Such a lovely, lovely person. Always asking about you and your life/family. Always interested in what he could do to make things better, stronger, happier. I will miss him terribly. His sharp wit. His wisdom. Endless hours spent explaining in great detail the hopelessness of all things Univ of Michigan sports. His views on the past, present, and future. His wry smile. His thoughts on traveling and the world. Mostly I will miss just knowing he is here. To the Prillwitz family, thank you for sharing your precious son/husband/brother/father with me. He will always live in my heart.

Aaron was much more than a co-worker, a valued mentor, or the go-to resource for the latest information on new Lincoln model SUVs - he was a great and loyal friend who always made time for those he loved.  He always had such a calm cool confidence that I admired and strived to achieve. Not to mention those sharp custom fitted suits from “his guy at Nordstrom”... He gave the best advice, both professionally and personally. I am going to miss him dearly and so thankful I had the chance to know him. All my love and prayers to Nicole and his family.

Aaron was a great friend and colleague. He was a true example of professionalism and an even better husband and father. He will be missed by his Optiv family. I am very grateful to have had Aaron in my life. Love you brother. 

I met Aaron 16 years ago through a work partnership and quickly became good friends through our shared love of good food, MSU and golf.  The memories are too many to share but all had the same take away...they were always fun and filled with many laughs; I always learned something new; and I always left knowing how much Aaron loved and adored his family.   I am so sorry for your loss and want you to know you are all in our hearts. 

Our hearts are heavy this morning, from the Cyber Team at Consumers Energy.    Aaron was more than a Fishnet/Optiv rep to us, we considered him a friend.  

He frequently would find a humorous slant to the majority of the scenarios we found ourselves in, product hiccups, or the last minute PO to be issued.

He shared stories with us about his family and always made time to ask about ours.  

I shared business trips with him, our mutual love of cars, food, shopping at Nordstrom, and his never ending quest to optimize his points with credit card companies.  

Our hearts go out to his family and all those that also shared him as a friend/co-worker.

I am grateful for his friendship... he will be missed.


So many different people come into your life over the years. Not often do connections become close friends. Being a  part of the Northville Vipers was a wonderful time- because these friends transpired into something bigger- a family.  Aaron was the kind of person that you knew would always have your back- and watched out for your children as he would his own.  It was easily infectious that you would share this same spirit with him.  Brian sent me this picture last week because he was really happy to  see 'the family' again. While the world is chaos, the camaraderie remains- and that is why our hearts will hurt so much- because a big void exists. I hope you can see this Aaron, because we will would hard to fill that void and make sure your kids always know what an amazing man, husband, father, and friend you were to all of us. I met Aaron in 2010 where we worked in Cybersecurity sales.  I was always amazed by his talent, passion for family, drive to be the best he could and genuine friendship to all.   I will miss the conversations on MSU, BW3 and times spent at Shepard’s Hollow/Arcadia Bluffs.  My heart goes out to the Prillwitz family and am  sorry for their loss as Aaron was a great guy/Dad/Friend.  My Condolences - Steve Stinson
