Anita (Nita) Zoratti (Vieceli), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and family matriarch, passed away peacefully on October 5. She was born on May 18, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan, to Margaret Vieceli (Corso) and Anthony Vieceli.
Anita was the devoted wife of the late Edward Zoratti and the loving mother of Laura Genesco (Richard), Edward Zoratti (Kandis), and Paul Zoratti (Jacqueline). She was the proud grandmother of nine: Kristyn McGlynn (Gerald), Matthew Hoag (Linda), Amanda Monahan (Justin), Jacquelyn Mayowski (Patrick), Gina Savickas (Jeremy), Paul Zoratti (Alison), Karla Duhaime (Michael), Marissa Powell (Jacob), and Carlo Zoratti. She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren: Abigail, Nolan, Ava, Alexa, Blair, Delilah, Olivia, Juliette, Vincent, and Carlo.
Known affectionately as “Nonna,” Anita was the heart of her tightly knit family. She loved Sunday family dinners and was famous for saying, “Let me know if you are coming over and I will put up a roast.” She was a meticulous housekeeper, a devoted mother and grandmother, and a trusted confidante to family and friends. She never hesitated to share her opinion, but she also never held a grudge and always forgave.
Anita’s Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. She had a deep and lifelong devotion to the Blessed Mother. Inspired by Mary’s intercession at the wedding at Cana, Anita often turned to Mary to ask Jesus to intervene in difficult times and to watch over her family.
She lived her faith quietly, humbly, and consistently. Through years of sacrifice and suffering, she remained steadfast in her faith and became an example of grace and perseverance to her family and all who knew her.
Anita leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, forgiveness, and love. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who were blessed to call her Mom, Grandma, Nonna, Aunt and friend.
