Our beloved mother, Nana, great grandmother, aunt, friend, and the Centenarian Matriarch of our family, Ann Rose Schuetz (Provenzano), of Livonia, Michigan passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024 after reaching the remarkable age of 102.
Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, and her son, Steven Schuetz. To cherish her memory, Ann leaves behind 2 daughters: Leann Alestra (late Gary) and Gerri Walker (Al). Grandchildren include Patricia Wright (David), Pamala Alestra, Paul Parsell (Danyelle), Kevin Parsell (Kelley), Peter Alestra (Victoria), Sarah and Erica Schuetz, Shana Rall (Matt), Jeff Pushee, and LeAnne Folsom. Great-Grandchildren: Emily, Lauren, Mason, Alexus, Gemma, Logan, Jamison, Tinley, Gibson, Macy, Sloan (late), Genevieve, Gryffin, and Great-Great-Grandchild Morgan.
Ann was a loving maternal figure for her nieces and nephews, having an indelible impact on their lives. The love she received from each of them served, and still serves, as a profound example for the entire family. The family connection, a binding force, remained vibrant by their many conversations of passed on family members and years gone by.
Ann was born on May 1st, 1921 in New York. She was the third of five children of Rosario and Mary Provenzano. While on vacation in Florida, Ann met the love of her life, Elmer, at a dance hall. They were married for 63 years and raised 3 children. Ann was a dedicated homemaker and while raising her family and keeping a home, she was a sought after beautician for 40 years. The significance she placed on her own hair persisted, with regular appointments every two weeks continuing until her last days.
Ann was a shopper! She loved all types of shopping, whether it be browsing the racks at Von Maur, cruising the aisles of the dollar store or in the comfort of her own home ordering up the latest and greatest offerings from her favorite retailer of all, QVC!
Ann knew her way around the kitchen, she mastered many culinary items but none more than the chocolate chip cookie. She would not have dreamed of showing up to a family event without the legendary tin of cookies, which was quickly taken from her as she made her grand entrance.
In reflecting on the amazing life of Ann Schuetz, God blessed her with remarkable health, a razor sharp mind and an abundance of love from her entire family. She was not only appreciated and respected, but her presence left a lasting impact on everyone she knew.
Ann will be laid to rest with her husband, in a private ceremony on Saturday, January 20, 2024. A celebration of her life will be held at Ciao Amici, 217 W Main street, Brighton on March 16, 2024 from 1 to 5pm.
Ann was a dedicated supporter of St. Jude's mission. The family kindly requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to her favorite charity in Ann Schuetz's name. https://www.stjude.org/give/memorials-and-dedications/donation-in-honor-of-someone.html#:~:text=A%20tribute%20gift%20is%20a,Jude
