Annie (Matheson) MacRitchie, beloved mother, grandmother, GG, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on March 24, 2024, at the age of 95. She was born on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland and immigrated to Detroit, Michigan, in 1953. Soon after, she married Norman MacRitchie, with whom she raised a family of four in Livonia, Michigan. She is the loving sister of Donald (Helen) Matheson of Barbaraville, Scotland, and cherished mother of Christine (John) Frith, Norman (Linda) MacRitchie, and Sandra (Harrie) den Boer. Her nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She was predeceased by her husband Norman and son George.
Annie was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and a devout member of the Presbyterian Free Church. She enjoyed entertaining friends and family and was known for her delicious short bread and other Scottish delicacies. Her abundant stories of growing up on a croft in wartime Britain, excelling at the Nicolson Institute in Stornoway, and then becoming a buyer for MacAuley’s clothing store, all told in her lilting Scottish accent, will be sorely missed. In addition to taking many trips back to Scotland, Annie also worked nearly forty years as an office administrator for Geisler Co.
A visitation for Annie will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harry J Will Funeral Home, 37000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152.
