Of Dearborn Heights, MI passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness, which he fought valiantly. Survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Anne (Gascon). Dearest father of Christopher Gascon (Leah), Anthony, Dominic (Tracey). Preceded in death by his parents, the late Angelo and Rosalie Trupiano. Proud grandfather of Christopher, Giavona and Lorenzo. The beloved brother of the late Michael. Survived by Marion (Mark) Hackett, AnnMarie (Victoria) Trupiano and Tina (Robert) Castle. Son in-law of Loretta and Ken Brown. Brother-in-law of Dorothy (Ken) Kennedy, Vicki (Randy) Green, and Donna. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Tony also loved and adored his dog Vinny.
As a student at Alma College not only did Tony establish more lifelong friendships, but he also shaped an incredible legacy. He served on the student government, was Editor-in Chief of the school newspaper, active in theater, and was one of seven founders of the Phi Lambda Chi Fraternity that went on to affiliate with the Sigma Chi International Fraternity.
Tony was also an accomplished political activist for the Democratic party, and also ran for State Representative for Michigan’s 11th Congressional District as well as Michigan’s 13th House District.
Tony was a radio talk show host for 22 years (the last 14 years as a political speaker). As the face of radio, Tony hosted “tonyshow.org\voiceofthepeople” and “First Shift with Tony Trupiano” transforming him into an accomplished columnist for many internet blogs, and different media and social outlets.
Tony, a communication professional, dedicated his life to activism, advocacy and excellence. He was an activist for the UAW, Teachers and Nurses unions, and the LGBTQ Community. He served on many boards, such as, the Oakland County Foster Care Review Board, as well as Pontiac General Hospital Board, just to name a few. Tony served as President of Dearborn Heights Raiders Junior Football and also announcer for the football games.
Tony developed the love of food and cooking from his father and owned Tony’s Coney, Tony’s Too, and Good Eats. Tony loved theatre, music, the Detroit Lions, and loved spending time with his family and friends.
The family will welcome friends for visitation on Thursday, April 12 2018 from 2pm-9pm at The Harry J Will Funeral Home at 37000 6 Mile Road Livonia, MI 48152. Funeral is Friday, April 13, 2018 at 11am.
