Arthur Eugene Kolasa, lovingly known as “Art” and affectionately nicknamed “Jeep” when he was born, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born on May 20, 1942, to his loving parents, William and Genevieve Kolasa.
Art was the beloved husband of Pat, with whom he shared 48 wonderful years of marriage. He was the loving father of Genevieve (Martin) Delonis and the proud grandfather of Lillian and Robert, who brought him so much joy. He was the dear brother of Camille “Cookie” (David) Kortis and a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. Art was preceded in death by his brothers, Tony and Bill.
Art was a proud graduate of Eastern High School in Detroit and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from Lawrence Technological University. He enjoyed a fulfilling career as a mechanical engineer with Ford Motor Company. He was also a proud United States Navy Veteran and carried that service with great pride throughout his life.
Above all, Art treasured his family. They were everything to him, and some of his happiest memories were made spending time together. He enjoyed bowling, golf, skiing, cruising to many destinations, and relaxing beneath the warm sun. Art had a special love for his saltwater aquarium and enjoyed sharing that passion with his grandchildren, creating memories they will carry with them always.
His faith was also an important part of his life. Art was deeply involved in his church community at St. Valentine Catholic Church, where his faith and friendships remained an important part of his journey.
Art will be remembered for his love of family, his adventurous spirit, his kind and gentle nature, and the many wonderful memories he created with others throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 2:00–8:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service, at Harry J. Will Funeral Home: 37000 Six Mile Rd, Livonia, MI 48152.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with in-state beginning at 10:00 a.m., at St. Kenneth Catholic Church: 14951 N. Haggerty Rd, Plymouth, MI 48170.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Capuchin Soup Kitchen or Gleaners in Art’s honor.
