Barbara Ann Leonard

Barbara Ann Leonard, 85, of Westland, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025. Born on July 11, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, Barbara lived a life full of compassion, dedication, and quiet strength.

Barbara’s journey through life was one marked by love and service. She earned her degree in Psychology and Gerontology from Madonna University in 1984, a testament to her lifelong desire to understand and help others. Her professional life was split between two decades as a trusted insurance agent and another 20 years working at Christian Opportunity Center (C.O.C.), and Business Ventures, where she empowered individuals with special needs by teaching them important life and job skills and helping them find meaningful employment.

Barbara was the beloved mother of Timothy (April) Leonard and Sheila (Diane Wampler) Leonard. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Timothy, Danielle (Kenneth), Shannon (Kyle), Michelle, Victoria, and Emily. Her joy was multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren: Jade, Jayce, Olivia, and Rosalee. She held each of them close in heart and spirit.

She is also survived by her cherished siblings, Susan Jaskae and Charles (Dianne) Holek, and her brother-in-law Randy Britt.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Charles F. Holek, Sr. and Billie Swaney; her stepparents, Moya Holek and Henry Swaney; her brothers Buddy and Richard Holek; her sister Karen Britt; and her brother-in-law David Jaskae.

Barbara had a quiet love for life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed dining out with family and friends, spent countless peaceful hours completing crossword puzzles, and in her later years found joy in the calming practice of coloring. Though she appreciated the company of others, she was happiest at home, finding contentment in familiar surroundings and the warmth of family.

Barbara’s life was a beautiful example of kindness, patience, and care. Her memory will be forever cherished by those who knew her, and her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched.

Barbara’s family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan, with a Rosary Service taking place at 6:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the Funeral Home on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 10:00 am until the time of a Funeral Service at 11:00 am. In accordance with Barbara’s wishes, cremation will follow.
