

Bernard Kapit was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 5, 1925, one of three children to John and Elizabeth Kapit. He passed away peacefully in West Bloomfield, Michigan on September 28, 2012 at the age of 87.
Bernard was a WWII Marine Corps Veteran and actively served in the South Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Republic.
Bernie was the beloved husband of the late Sadie Dolores “Dolly” for 53 years until her death in 2005. Loving dad of Donald (Sharon) Kapit, Debra (Frank) Molnar, Doreen (John) Kanakis, Denise Stephen and Dale Kapit. Grandfather and great-grandfather of many. Survived by his 2 brothers George Kapit and Charles (Lorraine) Kapit.
Bernard was an animal lover and a strong supporter of several animal charities.
The family will receive friends for a Committal Service with United States Marine Corps Funeral Honors on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 10:00am at Glen Eden Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel 35667 Eight Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved Dolly.
