

Bruce Conrad Allmayer, age 96, of Farmington Hills, Michigan, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024. Born in Detroit, Michigan, to parents Albert Allmayer and Frances (nee Fogg). Bruce led a life of service, adventure, and love.
A proud World War II veteran, Bruce served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1948. He was a member of the Knights of the Road Motorcycle Club of Detroit from 1949 to 1959. He was also a 60-year member of the Operating Engineers Local 324, where he worked diligently and earned the respect of his peers.
Bruce met his beloved wife Wilma while she was waitressing, and they married in 1959. Together, they shared a passion for travel, gardening, and family.
Bruce and Wilma spent their winters on the road, traveling across the United States in their motorhome, visiting all 50 states. They were frequent visitors to Florida, Arizona, and Texas. They drove to Alaska and saw Mexico's Copper Canyon while living in their motorhome that was piggybacked to a flatbed train car. Their travels also took them to the Galapagos Islands, and they spent six weeks in Australia and New Zealand, where they rented a motorhome and explored the beautiful landscapes. Bruce and Wilma also enjoyed square dancing at home and while traveling. They were members of the Traveling Squares of Michigan. Outside of travelling, they attended their grandchildren's sports events and other activities, showing their love and support.
Bruce is survived by his children: Linda (Tim) Freeman, Larry Stelter, Mary (Mike) McKay, and Karl (Mary) Allmayer; grandchildren: Jay Hammond, Dustin McKay, Megan Stelter, Colleen Jakobiak, Michelle Ward, Daniel Allmayer, Matthew Allmayer, Lauren Thomas, Sydney Allmayer, and Chloe Allmayer; great-grandchildren: Christina, Miley, Magnus, Ruby, Henry, William, Amber, Ambrose, Dorothy, Wrenley, and Olivia.
He was preceded in death by his wife Wilma; son Dale Allmayer; grandchildren Chad Hammond and Karl McKay; sister Jayne Wilson; parents Albert and Frances; and son in law Edward Hammond.
Bruce and Wilma will be inurned together at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan, where an honors ceremony will take place on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
Bruce’s life was a testament to his devotion to family, his sense of adventure, and his deep commitment to his country. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
