Born December 15, 1932, in Detroit, Carl was the son of the late Russell and Agnes (Rolls) Bell. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, serving from January 30, 1953, until his honorable discharge on January 4, 1955.
Upon returning home, Carl took accounting courses and embarked on a long and dedicated career at General Motors. It was there that he met the love of his life, Judy. The two were married on August 25, 1956, and shared 67 wonderful years of marriage until Judy’s passing on September 16, 2023. Carl retired as a finance director from General Motors in 1991, after decades of hard work and commitment.
A true handyman at heart, Carl found great joy in working on his home and always had a project underway. He loved tinkering in the garage, especially buying and fixing up cars to resell. He was also happiest on the water—boating, relaxing, and creating memories with family at the cottage on Silver Lake. Over the years, countless family camping trips up north added to the treasure trove of stories and laughter that defined Carl’s life.
Above all else, Carl was a family man. He is survived by his five children: Michael (Marcy) Bell, Cheryl Young, Nancy Iacovacci, Ron (Jacqueline) Bell, and Susan (Mark) Kushner. He was a proud grandfather to Scott, Steven, Stacey (Theron), Rebecca (Steven), Kelli (Joel), Kenny, Jessica (Delvin), Jannel, Ava, and Isabelle, and a beloved great-grandfather to Emerson, Morris, Kennedy, Haley, Gannon, Eli, Lily, and Jack. Carl also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss his warm heart, generous spirit, and quiet wisdom.
He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Judy; his beloved son, Kenneth Allen Bell (1987); his parents, Russell and Agnes Bell; and his three sisters, Doris, Viola, and Bernice.
A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. Carl’s family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday, September 21, 2025, and again on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am.
