Carolyn Marie Pattillo Davis, fondly called “Me Me” by many, was born on January 20, 1935, in DeQuincy, Louisiana, to her parents, James Selistan Pattillo, Sr. and Rhena Felicia Shaw Pattillo, who preceded her in death. Carolyn fell asleep and peacefully entered the presence of the Lord on October 19, 2026, at the age of 91.
Carolyn was the dearly loved wife of the late Charlie Davis Jr., whom she met and married in Seguin, Texas, in 1956, where they became parents of their daughters Charlotte Davis and Angela (Michael) McFerrin. The family moved to Austin in 1971. Carolyn was blessed to be a grandmother to Porsha, Matthew, Andrew (Lauren), Kayla, Grace, and Gabriel. She was a joyful great-grandmother to Steele, Sage, and Maya, who brought her much happiness. Carolyn was the youngest sister of James, Bertrand, Ulric, Geraldine Bridges, and Roland, who preceded her in death, and was loved by her 3 sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Carolyn dedicated much of her life to education and the success of others. She earned her undergraduate degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and a master's degree from Southwest Texas State University. She enjoyed a fulfilling career as a special education teacher before serving as a coordinator for the district in Austin, Texas. Through her work, Carolyn made a meaningful difference in the lives of the students and families she served.
While at Southern, Carolyn pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She took great pleasure in serving her sorors and the community during her time in Austin. Her role as a graduate advisor to the undergraduate chapter, Delta Xi, at the University of Texas at Austin allowed her to pour her love and care into numerous young women.
Carolyn was a loyal member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Austin, and she served faithfully as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Peter Claver, who were a part of the ministry of helps at the church. She gave generously of her time and her finances to family, other loved ones, and the needy.
Carolyn treasured her family. She was an excellent cook, with a peach cobbler that was unmatched, and was a good seamstress. She also liked to travel and was an avid golfer. Carolyn especially enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and embracing her roles as a grandmother and great-grandmother. The memories she created with her family will remain a lasting source of joy, comfort, and love for them.
Carolyn lived in Arlington, Texas for several years before moving to Michigan where she became a resident of The American House Senior community in Farmington Hills in 2022. She made many friends and was a constant source of joy, laughter, and love to her fellow residents and the staff. “See you later alligator, after while crocodile” and friendly “bang bang” love shots with her cane were her common salutations with her friends.
Above all, Carolyn loved God and received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, so her life has been very blessed. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love, dedication, and the impact she made throughout her life will be remembered forever.
