Caterina loved cooking for her family, gardening, knitting, and sewing almost everything. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed travelling with her daughter Maria and grandchildren. More recently Tucson, Arizona became her favorite winter getaway, where the warmth, sunshine, and great care from her grandson, John and Michelle, and family brought her happiness and health. Caterina always welcomed others into her home with open arms and a plate of food. From hard, humble beginnings she was able to find joy that she shared with others.

I can't think of my childhood without thoughts of Rina and Joe. I pestered them many a day by hanging around just to see what they were doing. Rina was always quick with a smile and a snack as well as teaching me something new. We worked in the gardens together, even if I happened to spread her imported Italian seeds all over the grass. We prepared for dinner that she was going to cook...even it meant that I had to learn how she slaughtered her small birds. wow! Rina taught me how to make her famous spaghetti sauce, which is asked her to make for me just about every week. Joe was always there with a good laugh. I loved Rina and Joe as a child, and don't think my memories would be the same without them. My prayers to the family and to my wonderful friend Rina. I miss you so much and know that you are enjoying your reunion with Joe. Love always, Johnny Kurnick

It is hard to capture the essence of Rina in words. Rina was our neighbor but she was honestly just so much more. When I think of Rina, I think of her garden, of laundry hanging in the backyard. I think of the smells from her kitchen, the spaghetti sauce she would make for us. I think of her smile and her hand waving gesture welcoming me into her house. I think of how kind and giving she was and how blessed we were to have her in our lives. She will always be an integral part of our childhood memories. I am so sorry for your loss and appreciate how hard it is to say goodbye to such a wonderful woman. She lived a great life and I am thankful for the impact she had on us.
