Charles Richard Cassie Jr., affectionately known as “Chuck” or “Bud,” passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 28, 2026. He was born on September 27, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, to his loving parents, Charles Sr. and Pauline Cassie.
A devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and cherished friend, Chuck leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and family. He was the beloved husband of Carol, whom he married in 1962. Together, they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage, building a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, adventure, and countless memories.
Chuck was the proud father of Kimberly (Patrick) Tortora and Kelly (Jim) Athanasiou. He was a loving Papa to Ashley (Weston), Cortney, Stephen, Malia, and Bella, and a cherished great-grandfather to Everett and Levi. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved granddaughter, Nicole Tortora. He is also survived by his dear brothers, Butch (Laura) and Rich (Cindy).
Chuck was a proud graduate of Thurston High School. Alongside his wife, Carol, he was the founder of First Michigan Title Company, where they built a successful business and became well-respected members of the Livonia and Northville communities. Through hard work, determination, and a commitment to serving others, Chuck created a company that reflected the same values he carried throughout his life.
Outside of work, Chuck found great joy in the simple moments that meant the most. He was known for his famous breakfasts, especially his unforgettable omelets that became a family favorite. He enjoyed relaxing at home watching Fox News and made sure he was always there for his favorite program, “The Five.” His greatest joy, however, was always his family. Chuck and Carol did everything together, and he especially loved taking his wife on long drives, enjoying each other’s company and the journey along the way. They created many special memories through family vacations and cruises that will forever be treasured. The bond between Chuck and his grandchildren was truly extraordinary. Being their Papa was one of the greatest honors of his life, and the love they shared will continue to live on in their hearts forever. His legacy is one of unwavering love, kindness, strength, faith, and family. A legacy his grandchildren will carry with them for generations to come.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Harry J. Will Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m.
