

Born on October 31, 1955, in Châteauroux, France, at the United States Air Force Base, Charles was the son of Charles Norman and Jo Anne Elaine Rushing. He grew up in Dearborn, Michigan, graduated from Dearborn High School, attended college, and proudly served in the United States Army Reserves for 12 years. He later devoted 28 years of service to the United States Postal Service before retiring.
Charles was a devoted husband to Diana Dale Rushing and a loving Daddy-O to Jeremy Michael Rushing and Jennifer Marie Thompson. He was a cherished "Papa" to Jayden and Kaleigh Wolff and a proud "Papa Bear" to his great-grandson, Quincy Wolff.
Family was the center of Charles's life. He especially loved family gatherings, where he could often be found helping with cleanup, collecting pop bottles, sharing stories, and making others laugh. He was known for his pithy comments, famously sweet coffee, and his remarkable gift for writing and narration.
A talented musician, Charles enjoyed playing the trombone and singing harmony with perfect pitch. He was also deeply devoted to his faith and was respected for his detailed and insightful Bible teaching.
Charles is survived by his wife, Diana; his children, Jeremy and Jennifer; his grandchildren, Jayden and Kaleigh; his great-grandson, Quincy; his brothers, Jason Rushing (Kathy) and Arick Rushing (Jen); and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Norman and Jo Anne Elaine Rushing.
Charles will be remembered for his faith, kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service will take place at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. Charles’ family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 12:00 pm. In accordance with Charles’ wishes, cremation will take place.
