Charles Chuck Edward Tober

Charles Edward Tober of Commerce Township, Michigan and a retired Firefighter from Metro Airport passed away peacefully on February 22, 2012 at the age of 65 after a year's fight with cancer.

He was the cherished husband of Marge. Loving father of Lynn (Adrian) Rice of Plymouth, Shelly (David) Burns of Clarkston and Kimberly (Michael) Hudson of Redford. He will also be deeply missed by Sandra Tober-Bedwell and Micheline Darin. Dearest grandfather of Christian Charles Rice, Bryan Patrick Donner, Savannah Lynn Hudson.

Chuck joined the Navy in 1966 and he was deployed on the USS Piedmont and the USS Bauer. He was enlisted for four years during the Vietnam Conflict.

Chuck loved being a Firefighter with Metro Airport where he retired in 1990. Prior to his firefighting career he enjoyed working for The Wayne County Road Commission. Since retirement he has kept himself busy with employment as an apartment manager and later he accepted a full time position with Marquette Management doing apartment maintenance until his surgery in March when he decided to once again retire.

Chuck was diagnosed with lung cancer in January 2011 and in March 2011 had two thirds of his left lung removed. In October of the same year he was diagnosed with two large tumors that had metastasized to his brain. He immediately underwent surgery to remove the tumors. After released from the hospital Chuck continued with rehabilitation to work on physical and speech therapy and then he endured daily rounds of whole brain radiation for three weeks which concluded in early December.

The family will receive friends for a Visitation on Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 1-8pm with at the Livonia Chapel of Harry J. Will Funeral Home.

The Funeral Service scheduled to take place on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 11:00am, also at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, will be led by Pastor John Rigg of The River Church in Holly, Michigan and will conclude with Navel Military Honors and presentation of the flag to Marge.

Charles Tober's ashes will be placed in the Civil Servant Memorial at Glen Eden Cemetery, Livonia, Michigan.

Memorial Donations may be made in Charles name to either American Lung Association or Season's Hospice http://seasons.org/.

Dad ~ It has been a year now and still not easy... Think of you often and I am still waiting for you to stop by the house... It just still doesn't feel real... We all love you very much and I am glad I was able to spend the time I had with you... Love you always...

I miss you tons, but that is our burdon to bare. So many times i think I see you, at a (home improvement) store, driving a truck, walking out of a restaurant... etc. and a paign goes thru my heart. You are fortunate to no longer be suffering. I pray with Christian Charles every night and among our requests is our thanks for our Papa and our hope for the future when we can all be with the Lord and one another again. We love you daddy, always have and always will! xoxo

Dear Chuck,
It has been one year already...there hasn't been one day that you have not been in my thoughts, driving to and from work, driving by the places we visited , ate at, walked around, and God knows we did alot of that. You are and will always be missed. I know you are in a much better place now.
I will always think of you, miss you, and love you.
