

Christopher George James, age 94, of Livonia, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Chris was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 29, 1930, to the late George and Nadalia James. He was the loving father of Laura (Jim) Darrow, Judy Alexander, and Greg (Cristina) James. Proud grandpa of James (Lee), Dan (Cara), Jacob (Jessica), Clay (Jana), Shane, Austin, Caden, Bryanah, and Addison. Dear great-grandpa of Clara Ann. Beloved brother of Steve (Barb), Cathy, and Patricia.
Chris was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy.
Chris proudly served his country as a member of the US Army. He was drafted to Korea in 1951 and served until 1953 as a Private First Class. He joined a unique division of engineers known as the Special Category of the Army Reassigned to the Air Force (SCARWAF). He repaired bulldozers, tractors, and other heavy equipment.
After his time in the Army, Chris went on to work for Ford Motor Company as an Automotive Designer constructing parts for cars. He was passionate about politics, traveling, and ballroom dancing.
A gathering will be held Thursday, January 16, from 10:00am-12:00pm at Harry J Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd, Livonia, MI 48152, followed by a memorial service beginning at 12:00pm, where he will be presented with military honors. He will be laid to rest at Parkview Memorial Cemetery.
