Christopher Fugedi passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, with his family at his side after a courageous 13-month battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer. Chris was born in Southfield, Michigan, on December 30, 1969. He lived in Detroit with his grandparents and mom until 1981, when his parents married, and they moved to Livonia, Michigan.
Chris leaves behind his beloved wife of 29 years, Lynne; his children, Kyle (Lexie) and Kaitlyn; his parents, Julie and Joseph; his brothers Joe (Monica), Tom (Katie), and Nick; sisters-in-law Lisa (Marshall) Kleven and Leslie (Jeff) Kruger; nieces and nephews; extended family; and countless friends who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
More than anything else, Chris cherished both his immediate and extended family. He wasn’t afraid of showing his affection, always greeting people with a big hug. He was not only actively engaged in his children’s extracurricular activities, sports, and academic milestones, but was also equally visible and entrenched with their friends and family. Furthermore, he had a big heart for animals, too. His dogs Kooper, Kobe, Lexi, and Maggie, cat Truffle, and turtle Squirt brought him countless moments of happiness.
Chris had a diversity of interests and a big personality. He was an avid athlete throughout his life, including picking up hockey in his fifties. That passion extended to enjoying all of Detroit’s local teams but especially the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. His creative talents were fully displayed in the pride he took in landscaping and beautifying their home. He cherished Northern Michigan, especially Cheboygan, where countless memories will be retold forever from times spent on the river, Mullett Lake, and the resulting tomfoolery at any number of establishments sprinkled across the Northern Mitt and family cottage.
Chris’s final chapter was not defined by cancer. It was defined by his love for his close and caring family, and the love they gave him.
A memorial gathering will be held Friday, September 25, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Harry J Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd, Livonia, MI 48152, with a rosary service and sharing of memories at 7:00 pm.
Friends and family are invited to continue gathering Saturday, September 26, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home, followed by a memorial service beginning at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Glioblastoma Foundation to support research and transform the standard of care for glioblastoma.
