David Thomas Collins, age 79 of Redford, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023. Loving father of Lisa (Dan) and Marc (Carolyn). Proud grandfather of Alyssa, Sean (Harvey), Eric (Jane), late Nick, Zack, and Kevin. Beloved best friend of 20 years to Virginia. Cherished brother of Ruth (Robert) Bollinger. Dear uncle of Chris (Amy), Beth, Thomas, and Susan (Randy). He will be deeply missed by many cousins, friends, and his fur baby Red.
David spent his career in the telephone industry, working for various companies. His main passion was helping others, volunteering his time to rescue animals, tutor those in need, and work at St. Christine’s food pantry. He also enjoyed gardening and was an avid Detroit sports fan, especially of Tiger’s baseball.
An in state period will be held Thursday, June 15, at 10:00am at Christ the King Catholic Church, 20800 Grand River Ave., Detroit, MI 48219, with a funeral mass beginning at 11:00am.
