We are new to the neighborhood and Deon was one of the first neighbors we meet. He was such a nice and sweet person. We are heart broken that he has passed. We would like to send prayers to the family.

Deon, the world will always miss your positivity, sense of humor, and compassion you showed everyone. I remember how helpful you were in auto classes and how you'd ride up to our house on your mini bike and say hi. You were always smiling or making people laugh. We know you'll continue your work up in heaven. God Bless you Deon, till we work on cars together again...

Santiago family,

I didn't know Deon that well but sure did enjoy getting to know him while he trained for his position at Etna Supply in Grand Rapids.
Always happy, caring and full of energy!

I'm praying for your family during this difficult time. Praying that Jesus is surrounding all of you and holding your hands while you mourn for your lost of Deon.

I would like to start off with my condolences to Deon's family.
What a respectful, kind, man you raised.
Working with Deon was a pleasure.(If you could keep up to him lol) This young man was full of energy beyond measure. He was the like vitamin D on a cloudy day. His Smiling face and warm greeting in the morning will truly be missed.

Prayers for healing in this challenging time

Deon was so fun to be around, he was always doing something completely crazy to make you laugh. There was never a dull moment when you were in his presents. Him and his brother Carlos were my little brothers before I had any. Amanda and I use to spend our nights after school riding our bikes down to the dead end where they lived. They would both take our bikes and make us run after them screaming "get back here." It wasn't usually until they would hear the ice cream man that they'd bring them back to us and say "sorry for taking this, will you by us ice cream, we love you!" lol we usually gave in.

Another favorite story of mine is when Deon convinced me to hold a (small) fire work in my hand, "it'll be fun he said, hold this..." little did we know it was going to misfire and blow up in my hand. I'll never forget the look on his face.. he thought I was going to be so mad. I couldn't help but crack up because it was so funny lol. He was very relieved I wasn't upset.....After that we decided to stick to bottle rockets lite from the bike peg on the back of his bike.

You were always the one to start the fun and keep it going. For all the laughs, smiles and fun memories you gave me, I'd like to say thank you. You will forever be engraved in my heart and I will always cherish the memories we have. I promise to cheers you to anything I do in life that I know you would have wanted to do too. I love you buddy. RIP

My deepest condolences your family.

May God bless you and keep you Deon and the Santiago family in his infinite heart and grace. I was blest when Deon was in my H.S. autubody class at OTC. What a pleasure and joy he was, always so attentive, willing to help others from fellow students, customers, us teachers and staff. He also showed his desire and love of vehicles and technical skills to learn, help repair and customize vehicles in our shop.
Rest and work in God’s love Deon, and thank you for touching and inspiring my life and the many others in your life. Mr. H.

Deon, you were by far the kindest soul I’ve ever met. The world is dimmer without your one of a kind laugh and smile. I cherish the memories of growing up with you because I was truly lucky to know you. Going on walks around the neighborhood won’t feel the same without the chance of running into you riding your bike or seeing you drive by screaming “Hi Jeana!” You are so so missed. I hope you rest peacefully ♥️
