It's amazing how mysterious god works and I am a firm believer in afterlife. I haven't talked to Diane in 37 years, and yet for the past year she has come into my thoughts many many times. I think on some level I knew something was happening with her. I "Googled" her several times and now I find this memorial page. Maybe she thought of me a time or two as well while reflecting on her life. I was an early childhood friend of Diane's from age 7 and a very close friend until about age 13 or so. Although we drifted apart in Jr. High, I still consider her as a very important part of my growing up. We shared everything magical in childhood together and kept each others' secrets. We had both gone through a lot as kids. She was my first friend when our family relocated to Livonia and we were almost like sisters. She was artistic, adventurous, mischievous, funny, and we went exploring our outdoor surroundings every single weekend for years and years. We were tomboys together, riding horses, climbing trees, building forts, skating on frozen creeks, and venturing off into all sorts of scary things that most little girls didn't do. We'd jump on horses in a field, sneak into people's barns, abandoned farm houses, abandoned cars, you name it. We were fearless together. We also did girl things together as well. We picked flowers, made arts and crafts and sat and talked to the family's cleaning lady named Lola. She always had an art project that she would show me how to do and helped me to feel confident in the area of art, although I was never as good as she was. Diane was very special to me and I owe a lot to her. I came back to Livonia in the early 2000's and tried to get in touch. Maybe the message was never relayed to her. If I could tell her now, I would say Thank you Diane, for being such a fun  childhood friend who opened up my world through adventure, discovery, art, play and true sharing of who we really were. She was a strong, courageous and resilient person. I will always keep her in my fondest and most sacred of memories. Rest in peace dear Diane.
