Dick was the beloved husband of Joyce for 57 wonderful years. Their love and partnership were a true testament to devotion and commitment. He was a loving father to Andy Anspach and Kelly (Michael) Murphy, and a proud and cherished grandfather to Mikaila Marie, Alyssa Marie, and Andrew Michael. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he took great pride in being an active and constant presence in their lives.
He is preceded in death by his siblings Raymond (Janice) Anspach, Marie (Bill) Gross, Jean (Bob) Briggs, Naomi (Bob) Campbell, and Alice (Bob) Louisell. Dick was also a treasured uncle to many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
A proud alumnus of Central Michigan University, Dick earned his Bachelor’s degree while also excelling as a collegiate athlete. He ran track with great success, capturing victories at both the Drake and Kansas City Relays—achievements that brought him great pride and lifelong memories.
Dick dedicated 39 years of service to the Social Security Administration, where his work ethic, integrity, and compassion left a lasting impact. Outside of his professional life, he was an avid outdoorsman, finding peace and joy in fishing and hunting. A devoted Detroit Tigers fan, he rarely missed a game, always cheering passionately for his home team.
Since 1979, Dick was a faithful and active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Livonia, where his presence, kindness, and faith touched many.
Above all, Dick will be remembered for his unwavering love and commitment to his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend—a man whose life was rooted in love, generosity, and joy.
