He grew up in Detroit, and married the love of his life, Sofia (Evanoff) Eloff, before moving to Dearborn Heights to raise a family. He is survived by his children Jeanne Eloff, Dan (Ruth) Eloff, and Carol (Mike) Kukan and his grandchildren Maria Eloff, Jim (Taylor) Eloff, Eric Kukan, and Mekie (James) Kukan Mohan and his great-grandchild Isaiah Eloff, with another great-grandchild due soon. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Ruth Evanoff. He also has many loving nieces and nephews, along with many grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and many cousins, who were also very treasured by him.
Family was always most important to him, along with many lifelong, treasured friends. He worked at Detroit Edison as a sheet metal worker for 40 years, except serving for military duty in the Army for two years where he served as Military Police in the early 1950s, before retiring and moving up north with his wife, Sofia, to Gladwin, Michigan. He had a wonderful retirement of 36 years where he met more good friends and enjoyed his retirement, playing horseshoes, pickleball, cornhole, card games, and trivial pursuit. He also enjoyed woodworking, making many fine pieces for their home and also gifted to many family members and friends. He truly treasured his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at Harry J Will Funeral Home, 37000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152, on August 6, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with Military Honors at the same location on August 6, 2026, at 6:30 pm.
