

Donald Carl Cartwright, born 11 Jul 1941 in Chicago, IL and died 5 Jan 2017 in Dearborn, MI. He was the son of Arthur Cartwright and Margaret Cederlund. His mother was born in Chicago, IL, both her parents were born in Sweden. His paternal grandfather was born in Olmstead Co, MN both his parents were born in Wiltshire, England. His paternal grandmother was born in Olso, Norway. He was the second of three male siblings.
He married Sharon Bledsoe on 18 Mar 1982 in Chicago, Illinois. They lived in Chicago for many years moving back to Dearborn, MI in 1983.
Donald had a son Donald C. Cartwright, Jr, Madisonville, KY and two daughters; Stacy Williams, Madisonville, KY, and Star Maples, Livonia.
He was the Commander of his Confederate Artillery Reenactment unit Bledsoe’s Missouri Battery for several years. Before the battery, he was a member of the 5th TX and 4th TX infantry units. He was well known and loved by many in the hobby.
Don worked as a lithographer for printing companies in Chicago where he served his apprenticeship and in SE Michigan.
He was predeceased by his parents and older brother Arthur C Cartwright. He leaves his wife Sharon Bledsoe, one brother Jim Cartwright that lives in New Hampshire, his children, grand children and great grand children and two nephews and two nieces.
Funeral Service Saturday, January 14 at 4pm, with visitation beginning at 12pm, at Harry J. Will Funeral Home 37000 Six Mile Road in Livonia.
