Don was born December 23, 1932 in Detroit, MI to Joseph and Victoria Hanley. He was raised in Detroit and after graduating from high school he entered the U.S. Army and served 2 years in Germany as a demolition expert. He was a Bricklayer by trade for 50 years.
On June 24, 1961, Don married Kathy Maki of Mass City and they celebrated their 62nd Anniversary in 2023.
Don loved to fish, whether he caught any fish or not. Just cruising around the lake, drowning worms, was relaxing. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed visiting with friends.
Don is survived by his wife Kathy, son David (Amy), grandson Brian (Samantha) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Edward and Fred; sisters Edna and Betty; Sister-in-laws Jane Hanley and Helen Hanley; Brother-in-laws Robert Paul, Fred Herrick; Nephews Bob Paul and Jimmy Hanley, Edward Hanley, Freddy Bowman and Donald Herrick; Nieces Karen Motyka, Sharon Bowman, Barbara Baleja; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law Onni and Eveyn Maki.
Visitation, Saturday January 13, 2024 from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Harry J. Will Funeral Home: 37000 Six Mile Rd., Livonia, MI 48152.
