He graduated from Redford Union High School and then from Eastern Michigan and Wayne State University in education and art. Don retired from teaching art in the Farmington Hills school system. He was a forever artist, his drawings go back to his childhood where he would impress his family members with his cartoon drawings that seemed to flow so naturally.
Donnie’s primary hobby was sports. He was a loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers. He played baseball and hockey in his youth and those experiences forged a true love of all sports.
He was a beloved husband to Kathleen for 20 years and attended Livonia Church of Christ. The church was the center of their lives and guided them through all of life’s challenges. As well as an artist, Donnie was an author of a book ‘The Bible and Reality’ explaining the challenges of continued faith in such a troubled world. Don will be remembered as having a loving mind, a truly caring person, and never complained about life’s trials.
Donnie is survived by his brothers Walter and Kenneth and his many nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his wife Kathleen, brother Bob, and nephew Kevin.
He will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Cemetery-Livonia.
