I was so sorry to hear of Don's passing and am sorry for the loss that his family is experiencing at this time.  Don was just about the friendliest person I know and he had a way of making you feel like you were a friend whether he knew you just a little or if he had known you a long time.  He was instrumental in me meeting my future husband. He told a secretary at his work about a college and career weekend at Camp Barakel and since she wouldn't know anyone else who was going, she invited me. There I met Greg Lynn, who became my husband the following year.  My friend also met her future husband there.  I am so thankful that Don was willing to be used by God in something as simple as extending an invitation to someone at work.

Dear Paul, Brooke, Jen and family, as well as to Ron and Judy's family,
Let me extend my deepest sympathy to all of your families as you mourn Don's passing. I've known Don my entire life. He was my Dad's best man and Liz was a bridesmaid in my parents wedding. They were instrumental in my parents attendance at Dunning Park Bible Chapel and easily became what I call my "church-family relatives." I always knew that they cared deeply for their church family. Don had a big smile and a bigger heart. He greeted me regularly with his big smile as I entered the door of our church on Sunday mornings. Although I knew my entire life that Don loved UPBC and about his bus driving/repair ministry, I was too afraid to travel that far away and so I never went to camp at UPBC and therefore never directly observed his ministry there. My fondest memories of Don and Liz were attending regular chapel pot lucks together,  their attendance at my parent's 25th anniversary party in the chapel basement and the treasure chest of coins that he dutifully guarded when I was a kid during "Happy nights" in the 70s. I observed Liz volunteer to work in the church kitchen often and I observed that Don worked on our church building frequently with an intent servant's heart to help repair a place that he loved, mostly because he loved to worship our Lord there and I knew he wanted others to be able to worship there for a long, long time. But what I MOST appreciated was that Don came to help out during DPBC's MOPS program. He was a greeter extraordinaire! He would come out to help the mom's carry in their diaper bags, their kids in their car seats and/or food for snacks. He would guard the door and patrol the building, helping us all to feel safe. He would even go out and brush the snow off all of our cars if it snowed while we were meeting. He never retired from serving the Lord and I thank God for his model of not just willing, but hearty lifelong servanthood  to our Lord in my life.

I worked with Don and his son Paul for many years. I know Don blessed anyone that he met. I know that he talked about the up bible camp quite a bit. One of our kids went to springhill bible camp for many years so we had a lot in common.  I know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has welcomed him home. Prayers that the family gets through this difficult time during the holidays.

Our very sincere and deep sympathy to Jennifer, Cameron and Gemma and Paul and Brooke and the rest of the Munson family. We live next door to Jen and Cam and Gemma and always enjoyed when Don came to visit, especially after Dave passed away.  He loved them all so dearly. We will miss his smile and charming ways. I want to offer my sympathy to your family in the loss of Don.  It's a particularly difficult time of year for that experience.  A long time ago, my mom passed away on Dec. 7, so I know. I remember Don as a good worker with a special heart for the Lord's work. He could be especially charming with his wide smile and dimples.  When Lance and I visited him a couple of weeks ago, he was in and out of alertness, but he smiled so much as we shared stories about UPBC primarily. He even was smiling while he was taking a short cat nap. He was confident in the Lord and excitingly looking forward to meeting Him face to face.

So many wonderful memories of UPBC with Don as the driver. Many years later, driving to the soccer complex early on a Saturday morning in Gaylord where I live, I see a Dunning Park Chapel bus in a parking lot and drove over. There was Don checking the tires. I haven’t seen him in over twenty years and he still remembered me. He holds a special place in our family’s hearts and we will miss him. Reunited and truly “home” for Christmas.

Where I grew up, Don was the father of our next door neighbor family,  the Munsons. We enjoyed a wonderful relationship with them over many years. Don was a loving father, husband, and hardworking provider for his family. He was a great role model for Paul and Dave, and us neighborhood kids. I know he helped introduce Jesus Christ into the lives of many youth through his bus driving hundreds of kids, to U. P. Bible Camp. Don was a sincere, caring Christian man who touched the lives of many. He truly lead an impactful, Christian life. He will be missed by many.

Don was a faithful servant of the Lord.  Uncle Don Fraser told me that Don and his brother Ron were the first ones to trust the Lord as their Savior at Dunning Park Bible Chapel.  They were young boys.

Well done, good and faithful servant!

Don was so faithful in driving the bus to camp each week throughout each summer for many years and did it with joy! He also helped around camp... with joy! He was a joyful person to be around.  And now, he is experiencing " fullness of joy in God's presence" (Psalm 16).

Paul, I'm praying for you especially.  I can't imagine being the last family member left. May you feel God's presence, that you are not alone. May our Eternal Refuge uphold you with His everlasting arms (Deut. 33:27) and comfort you in your sorrow.
