Elaine Evelyn Carnacchi

Elaine Evelyn Carnacchi, age 87 of Canton, MI, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023. Elaine was born February 8, 1936 in Wayne, MI to Raymond J. and Evelyn M. Salley. Beloved wife of 53 and a half years to Anthony “Tony”. Loving mother of Lynn (Jan), Brian (Kathy), Michael, Jeff, and Stephen (Elisa). Proud grandmother of Andrew (Jessica), Nicholas, Melisa (Patrick), Eric (Kelsey), Chris (Breonna), Sarah, Robbie, and Caitlin. Dear great-grandmother of Everleigh, James, Anthony, Conrad, Molly, Geneva, and Crosby. She will be especially missed by her fur baby, Candy.

Elaine took her greatest pride in being a wonderful wife, mother, and friend. Elaine and Tony’s life was a true love story. They each lost their spouses at a young age; Elaine was a widow with two sons and Tony was a widower with three sons. They met as a result of a blind date arranged by loving relatives and friends. Six months later they were married and starting their new life together. In Elaine’s words: “We were a real Ozzie and Harriet family. A perfect family doing good family things and going to church and all that kind of stuff. We did all that, plus.”

Elaine’s lifework was her family. She was extremely proud of all her sons and their families, and was a “second mom” to many of their friends. She ensured everyone was welcomed and well fed. In one of her son’s words: “She was the rock in our family who kept us all in order and made time in her heart for everyone she met. Mom was always demonstrating a great example to all of us, especially her grand and great grandchildren. Mom has inspired so many people and will be greatly missed. She was Tony’s best friend and companion. Thank you for all the incredible memories.”

Elaine’s sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren always felt her tremendous love and kindness. Her gentle spirit, generosity, unconditional love, and life of faith will be forever remembered in each of our hearts. She has been a true blessing to us all.

A visitation for Elaine will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harry J Will Funeral Home, 37000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152, with a rosary service at 6:30 PM. A funeral in state will occur Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St Thomas a'Becket Catholic Church, 555 S Lilley Rd, Canton, Michigan 48188, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 AM.

Elaine will be laid to rest in Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery.
