Vangie was born on December 3, 1926, in Detroit to the late Anna and Lawrence Schwab, the second oldest of four siblings. She was a 1945 graduate of St. Leo’s in Detroit and, in August 1947, married the love of her life, Edwin Lundquist. For 49 years, they had a fulfilling life raising their two children, Gary and Deborah (Debbie). After the passing of her beloved husband Ed, Vangie was fortunate to find love again with James Noetzel, whom she met through church. Together they spent 12 happy years before his passing.
As a career executive secretary at Ford Motor Co., she was well-known for her meticulous note-taking and attention to detail. Throughout her life, Vangie enjoyed traveling the world, visiting friends and family, and exploring new places. Family was always the most important thing for Vangie, and she was well known for her love of food, both cooking and eating. As a resident of StoryPoint, Rockford, for the last four years, Vangie thrived within the community and was known as the “Dancing Queen” with frequent posts of her signature dance moves. Vangie treated each day as God’s miracle and lived life to the fullest each and every day.
Vangie was predeceased by her daughter, Deborah Chamberlin, parents Anna Ponchart and Lawrence Schwab, sister Dolores Stepaniak, brother Richard Schwab, and husbands Edwin Lundquist and James Noetzel.
She is survived by her son E. Gary Lundquist; her grandchildren, Alex and Kelly Chamberlin; great-grandchildren Charlotte, Jaxon, and Brooks; sister Florence Basmajian, and a large extended family of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
