Frank was preceded in death by his son Kenneth Kasparek and his son-in-law Michael Sapelak. Frank was the loving father of Frank Kasparek (Cheryl), Cathy DePotter (Mark), Edward Kasparek, Mary Pat Pernak (Lawrence), and David Kasparek (Toni Sapyak).
Frank is the cherished grandfather of Kenneth, (Marie), Leyna, (Matthew), Karyn, (Ryan), Kristin, (David), Megan, Justin, Drake, Christopher, Emma, and Alex. He is the cherished great-grandfather of Caelus, Harper, Reese, Dylan, Morgan, and Elise.
He is remembered as the dearest brother of Stella Fredericks (the late Edward), Sr. Ann Christine Kasparek, SMR, brother-in-law to Barbara Seybert (Terry), the late James Horak (Marsha), and the late Gerald Horak (Margaret). He is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Frank and Mary Frances were married on June 16, 1951 and spent most of their life in the city of Livonia, raising their 6 children. Frank coached football and basketball for St. Michael’s Parish in Livonia–coaching many of his sons.
Frank loved spending time with his family and especially all his grandchildren. He was a devout Roman Catholic attending church every Sunday. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, taking after his own father Frank. He hunted deer in the UP of Michigan for over 50 years! He loved spending time on Lake Erie and the Detroit River fishing for perch and walleye. He also enjoyed golfing with his sons and numerous friends, often taking trips up north to golf the prestigious golf courses. He even achieved one of golf’s biggest accomplishments by getting a hole-in-one at the age of 68. He was also a huge University of Michigan fan, attending football games in the late 1970’s, when his son, Ed, was recruited to play football for Bo Schembechler.
Frank worked for the Detroit News, Detroit Free Press, and the Livonia Observer & Eccentric, as a newspaper pressman, for over 40 years combined. Frank was also very proud to have served in the National Guard for 4 years.
Most importantly, Frank was an incredible husband (of 72 years) and one of the best fathers that anyone could ever have. He was incredibly supportive, always making sure that his family came first in his life. He taught his children to be responsible and respectful. He will be deeply missed by all.
The family would like to thank all of Frank’s caretakers at Serene Gardens in Hartland, Michigan, and Absolute Hospice for their wonderful care of him during his 2 years there and especially in his final days. Everyone showed him so much compassion, dignity, and excellent care.
