Born and raised in Detroit. Hard working, first generation American who survived the Great Depression, living off the foods peddled by his father, a fruit and vegetable peddler. He and his father helped others in the neighborhood survive by delivering plates of spaghetti and vegetables to people in need. He, like many in that time, did not have the opportunity to finish school, but went on to serve his country honorably in W.W.II, get wounded, and receive a Purple Heart. He returned home partially disabled, but rehabilitated. He soon after went on to marry, and raise a family.. He worked long, hard hours as an unskilled factory worker for Ford Motor Company, never taking a sick day. When laid off during the recession of the late 50’s, he took home his tiny compensation and took on under the counter jobs delivering pizza in order to pay his family’s bills and put food on the table. He saved to send his two daughters to college so that they could have the opportunities that eluded him. To that end, he was a great success.
He was preceded in death by his two grandchildren, Deanna and Ricky Woods both of whom he adored. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Steve, Jim and Josephine Parrinello. He died in the loving presence of his wife and two daughters. He was ninety years old.
