Born with a vibrant spirit and a lifelong love of learning, Gg devoted herself not only to her family but also to her personal and professional growth. She graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School in River Rouge, MI, in June 1958. Determined to build a meaningful career, she pursued her passion for beauty and style by attending Dermaway University, where she earned her certification in hairstyling and cosmetology in 1959.
Gg’s dedication to education and self-improvement continued throughout her life. She expanded her skills into financial services, earning her certification in tax preparation through H&R Block in 1975. Never one to settle, Gg next earned a diploma as an executive legal secretary from Dorsey Business Schools in 1977. Her educational journey didn’t stop there — she later pursued a focus in the hospitality industry, studying Hotel and Motel Law through the American Hotel and Motel Association of Education Institute and graduating in 1980. In 1983, she further earned a degree in Marketing of Hospitality Services, equipping her to thrive in the business world. Later, she worked as an administrative assistant in the small business division of the IRS, retiring in March 1998.
With her incredible work ethic, intelligence, and natural warmth, Gg found success and fulfillment working in the hospitality industry, where she was known for her attention to detail, professionalism, and genuine care for the people she served. She took great pride in her career, just as she did in every role she embraced in life.
Above all else, Gg’s heart belonged to her family. She was her happiest when she was surrounded by her loved ones, sharing stories, laughter and memories. She took special joy in watching her grandchildren grow, celebrating every milestone with love and pride. Her home was always filled with warmth, kindness and the unmistakable feeling of being deeply cared for.
Gg's co-worker at the beauty shop (later mother-in-law) introduced Gg to her son, Walter; stating "Oh, do I have a son for you!" 6 dates over 9 months later, they eloped. Gg was the beloved wife of over 55 beautiful years to the late Walter A. Gordon. She was the devoted and loving mother of Christopher (Amy) Gordon and Ann-Marie (Jack Siroonian) Keller. She was a proud and doting grandmother to Amanda (Tim) Brown and Jillian Kus, and a delighted great-grandmother to Walter Kus and Benjamin Brown. Gg was also a cherished sister to Gail Desmarais and a dear sister-in-law to Steve (Rachel) Gordon. She will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and extended family, all of whom were touched by her generosity, humor, and unwavering support.
Gg lived her life with grace, resilience, and an enduring commitment to the people she loved and the dreams she pursued. She leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and an unshakeable belief in the power of family.
A private memorial service for family will be held at a later date at Michigan Memorial Cemetery in Flat Rock, MI.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gg’s memory to The Medical Team Hospice, whose compassionate care provided great comfort in her final days.
