Gary Norris Pritchard

Gary Norris Pritchard was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 19, 1946 to Mark and Henrietta Pritchard. Gary passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 31, 2022. He was under the gentle care of Residential Hospice.

Gary was the beloved husband of Sandra for 56 years. Loving father of Jessica Lynn Williamson (Aaron), and the late Wayne Norris Pritchard. Father-in-law of Julie Pritchard. Dear grandpa of Alexander Williamson, Xavier Williamson, Ava Pritchard, Aubrey Pritchard, Griffin Pritchard and Greyson Pritchard. Brother of Sally Pawlowski (the late Darrell).

Gary was a decorated United States Marine Corps Veteran who served proudly in the Vietnam War. He was a member of VFW Post 6695 in Plymouth / Canton, MI. He was also a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America organization.

After leaving the military, Gary was an accountant for Ford Motor Credit and retired after a successful 31-year career. Gary had a love of history and anything to do with history. He was a proud founding member of the 17th Michigan Company E; a group dedicated to the reenactment of the Civil War. Member of Sons of the Union Veterans. Former member of the St. Andrew’s Society and held the title of Historical Commissioner for the City of Livonia. Gary was a servant of God and was an attending member with his wife Sandra of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Livonia.

Gary enjoyed traveling and took his daughter to England and Scotland to experience the historical countries of their roots. Gary was a “Foodie” He definitely had an appreciation for good food and would eat almost anything put in front of him. He also had an appreciation for good music of all genres and even enjoyed a good musical from time to time.

However, his passion was his family; he simply loved being a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all. Gary had a huge smile, a warm heart; he never met a stranger, and will be missed by all.

Gary’s family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, June 3, 2022 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home 37000 Six Mile, Livonia, MI 48152. The funeral service will be 10:00am on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at the funeral home. Pastor Nate Achterhof of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church will lead the service.

Gary will be laid to rest at 10:30am on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan. The United States Marine Corps Funeral Honors Team will provide military honors.
