George Peters

He is survived by his loving partner of over three decades, Scot Acre; his father, Carl (late Helen) Peters; his brother, Daniel (Marla); and his sister-in-law, Monica (Jeff) Rizzo. He will be deeply missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his mother, George was preceded in passing by his sister-in-law, Rachael Brown.

George earned his bachelor's degree from Wayne State University ahead of earning his Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His legal career began in private practice before he switched to corporate law. George most recently worked for Mahindra USA, where he was General Counsel of North America. Some of his proudest accomplishments included his work for the Walt Disney Corporation and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA).

George took great pride in his Macedonian heritage. His charitable spirit led him to make great strides through his work with Phi Delta Phi (his law fraternity), the United Macedonian Diaspora, and the California Lupus Foundation.

Having said this, a resume could never fully define George. His family and friends described him as funny, generous, loyal, kind, adventurous, and stubborn. He had a passion for U of M football, traveling, and enjoying good food and fine wine with family and friends.

George was and is deeply loved, and his absence will be deeply felt. He hopes to be remembered not for the disease he fought, but for the life he lived and the people he cared for.

George's family would like to thank the staff at Royal Oak House Assisted Living, Angela Hospice, and all of their family and friends who consistently visited, prayed, and expressed compassion for them during their time of need.

George will lie in state on Wednesday, August 19, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at St. Clement of Ohrid Orthodox Church, 19600 Ford Rd, Dearborn, MI 48128, followed by a funeral liturgy beginning at 11:30 am. He will be laid to rest at Grand Lawn Cemetery.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 22. More details to follow.
