Geraldine Sopha

She was the first born child of Alexander Stephen Meidinger and Anna Louise Corriveau. She married Clarence John Sopha on October 7, 1939 enjoying a loving marriage until he died March 1, 1964.

Loving mother of Maryann (the late William) Cameron of Livonia, Michigan, Gerald (Linda) Sopha of Elgin, Illinois and Charlene “Shelly” (Ed) Robertson of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Dear grandmother of Tina (Douglas) Krizanic, James (April) Cameron and Denise Cameron. Dear great-grandmother of Kaitlyn & Jaclyn Krizanic and Kayla & Andrew Cameron. Geraldine is survived by her sister, Veronica (the late Earl) Gilbert, of London, Ontario Canada. Predeceased by her sister, Sidonia, and her brothers, Delmar, Anthony and Michael. She was the proud godmother and aunt of numerous nieces and nephews.

Geraldine was a long standing parishioner of St. Maurice Church in Livonia. She was proud to be one of the original and very active members of St. Valentines Church, in Redford Township. She retired from Deluxe Check Printers in 1981. She was an active member of the Livonia Go-Getters and enjoyed socializing and excursions with her friends. During her lifetime she enjoyed gardening, cooking, genealogy and bowling. She loved to play cards and was skilled at many games. Most of all she was devoted to her family.

Her love, wisdom, strength and independent spirit will remain in our hearts forever.

The family hopes you will join them to honor Geraldine's memory during the Visitation on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from 2-8pm with a 6:30pm Scripture Service at the Livonia Chapel of the Harry J. Will Funeral Home. Followed by an 11:00am Funeral Mass at St. Maurice Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Final Visitation for Geraldine will be at the church beginning at 10:15am.

Geraldine will be laid to rest next to her husband Clarence in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield, Michigan following the Mass. There will be a Memorial Luncheon at the church following the Mass and Committal Prayers for everyone in attendance.
